Singham Again has proved to be a turning point for Arjun Kapoor's career. The actor is being lauded for his impeccable portrayal of the villain 'Danger Lanka'. However, in a career spanning over ten years, Arjun has seen the lowest of the lows.
Arjun Kapoor faced relentless trolling after the trailer of Singham Again was released. However, his performance as the menacing 'Danger Lanka', which is said to be a rendition of Raavan from the Ramayan, has completely changed people's perspective of him. Recently, the actor took to his Instagram handle and penned a heartful post for the film's director, Rohit Shetty, for trusting him. He wrote:
"The perfect role, at the right time, with a director who believes in you — sometimes, that’s all it takes. Grateful beyond words for the trust he’s shown in me when not many were willing to, and for creating a character so close to his vision that the audiences have loved. This journey of becoming Danger Lanka has been nothing short of amazing. Thank you, @itsrohitshetty sir and team, for making every moment on set unforgettable. I’d do this all over again in a heartbeat! #SinghamAgain."
In a recent interview with News18 Showsha, Rohit Shetty responded to Arjun’s post, thanking him for his rebirth as an actor. Rohit shared that faith is the most important thing for him and that he believes in Arjun's capabilities as an actor. He further added that he remembered when they released the promo, people tweeted about how they needed five people to kill Arjun Kapoor's character.
Rohit Shetty added that he is glad that people have changed their perceptions of Arjun Kapoor. He shared that he doesn't blame anyone since the audience is never wrong, but he is happy that people liked Arjun in the role as he worked really hard for it.
“I don’t blame those people. The audience is never wrong. They’ve their own point of view but these are the same people who changed their mind after watching the film. And I’m very happy for them. If they didn’t like Arjun or Danger Lanka’s character who’s the main evil force in the film amid such a big star cast, it would mean that we went totally wrong. Arjun has worked very hard on it. He has given his 10000% to his character."
Rohit Shetty shared how Arjun was going through a rough patch during the shoot of Singham Again. Rohit commented on how difficult it is to be an artist when every aspect of your life is out on social media. He further added that he is happy that despite such a vast cast, Arjun Kapoor's character has made such a huge mark on the watchers.
Rohit shared that he feels like it's his faith that drives his films. He reflected on the support Ajay Devgn provided him when he was struggling and that he is delighted that he is able to show that same faith and support to someone else. Rohit added that no director or producer wants to work or make a mediocre film, but sometimes projects and decisions are made on faith, not just box office analysis. He shared:
"My upbringing has been like this. I’ve known Ajay sir for 33 years, and he has treated me like his younger brother and has always stood by me. Box office numbers are important, but so are trust and faith. We’re in an industry where things don’t happen overnight. But everyone works hard. No director, producer or actor wants to do mediocre work and doesn’t want his films to do well or not get appreciated. Sometimes you pass, and sometimes you fail. But faith is very important."
