Ashwin K Verma was the VP of an international insurance company, and he used to stay in the US. But, as soon as they had started considering their future plans and marriage, Ashwin left his foreign job to be with the love of his life, marry her, and settle in India.

Rupali

Ashwin had stuck with Rupali no matter what circumstances came. They almost got married without any such major planning. Did you know Ashwin came late to his own wedding? And there was no such thing as a guest list?

The D-day

Rupali

Rupali's parents always knew that they were going to marry someday for sure in the near future. So, just like that when Ashwin and Rupali had started to give in some thought to the idea of getting married, Ashwin's sister and brother-in-law had come to India from Chicago, and they asked why they are not getting married. They had their return ticket on February 8, 2013. So everything got decided, and the date got fixed. But in all of this haste, she forgot to invite some of her friends. Rupali's brother was too shocked just as she was, but her father was very cool with it. Her mother's reply to this decision was the most shocking one. She had said,

"Ok, there is still  one month left, we will manage."

Rupali

Rupali had further mentioned that her mother was feeling paranoid after knowing that the wedding was happening the day after. She had said in the interview,

"She was obviously paranoid about how she’d invite people at such a short notice. But thankfully, we didn’t waste paper in invitations It was a very private. I did not want to turn it into a circus, with due respect to the media. Thinking of it now, I didn’t do a thing for my wedding. I was sleepwalking through it at all."

So, on February 6, 2013, Ashwin and Rupali finally tied their nuptial knot and were pronounced as Mr. and Mrs. It was a Bengali wedding and the actress had worn shakha, pola and a 'banarasi' saree. In one of the interviews with Times Of India, Rupali had shared that they always wanted to get married among their close friends and families. But Rupali couldn't even realise what was happening as everything happened so fast. Before she could process, Rupali was married to her best friend. Amidst all of the hustle-bustle, Rupali had missed inviting a few of her friends. She had said,

"We did not intend to hide. We just wanted to avoid the chaos. If I were 23 or 24, I would have loved all that jazz. But in your 30s, all this seems very superficial."

Wedding couture

Rupali

Rupali's wedding day was one of the most interesting events that have ever happened in her life. She didn't get time to sew a blouse for her wedding couture, so she had opted for 'jugaad' and had paired her outfit with an old blouse. Ashwin had reached 'mandap' very late. In one of her interviews, she had even mentioned that everyone thought he had run away. The pandit was in a hurry, too, because he had another wedding to attend, and as soon as Ashwin had stepped in, he had started reciting mantras. Guess what Ashwin had worn on his wedding day? Just casual pants and a shirt. Rupali had said she was too surprised to see him like that. In an interview with The Times of India, Rupali shared,

"I was howling and throwing tantrums since I didn’t have a sari to wear on my wedding. Ashwin was his calm self. He said, ‘Why don’t you wear your jeans and come?’ Then I took out one of the new saris that I had bought last October for my court wedding, which did not happen as I did not have time. It was a simple sari. Then on my actual wedding morning, I sent it to my designer to glam it up a bit. I paired it with an old blouse and petticoat that I had worn on my brother’s wedding.  Last moment it tore near the arms because I had gained weight and then again there was chaos. I went shopping in the morning as I had no shoes either. At 2 pm I realized that there was no one to do the makeup. I convinced a makeup artist who was drinking with friends to come and do my makeup."

She was too shocked to see Ashwin in all casuals. Living in America for so many years, Ashwin thought he would just sign some papers formally, so he was shocked too to see all the wedding arrangements.

Rudransh's birth

Rupali

In 2015, Rupali and Ashwin's world brightened with the birth of their son, Rudransh. After his birth, Rupali had gained a lot of weight and people had started shaming her for that. But, Ashwin had stood by her side and had helped her get back to her pre-pregnancy shape. As a result, she had lost many kilos in the process. She had opened in an interview with Pinkvilla and shared,

"Seven years back after I gave birth, I gained weight. My body changed and I couldn’t look at myself. I would not step out of the house afraid of what people would say. If I couldn’t look at myself, why would people want to look at me? When I told my husband about it, he was the one who pushed me to take up the offer. He said, ‘Go, live your dream.’ Such roles come in a lifetime and you must definitely take it up."

Life after marriage

Rupali's Instagram profile is filled with lovey-dovey pictures with her husband and cute family photos. Rupali had penned down a heartfelt message for her hubby on his birthday, September 17, 2021. She had posted a picture with him and had titled him as her soulmate, best friend, the best father and the best husband! In an excerpt from an old interview with The Times of India, Rupali had shared how her life after marriage felt like a rollercoaster but she also mentioned how much Ashwin had been helping her picking up things from her maternal house. She finally said,

"I am in a happy space now. We own an ad agency together and have been making commercials since the last 12 years. Our commercials have been nominated for the Emmy’s nine times. Ashwin means the world to me."

Rupali

They are the sweetest couple, even though Ashwin doesn't enjoy being in limelight. We just wish this couple a lifetime of happiness!
