Rupali Ganguly has had an illustrious career in the TV industry, appearing in shows like Sanjeevani, Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai, and others. However, it was her appearance as the star of Anupamaa that truly cemented her as TV's leading actress. Not only that, reports suggest that the show singlehandedly made Rupali the highest-paid actress in the TV industry as well. However, the actress never managed to crack her way into Bollywood, and recently, she opened up about the reason behind the same.
A recent Pinkvilla report revealed that actress, Rupali Ganguly opened up about not breaking into Bollywood and being labelled a 'failure' due to it. However, the actress has now revealed that staying away from films was a conscious decision on her part due to the rampant casting couch practices several years ago. Rupali elaborated:
"I didn't do well in films, and that was a choice I made because predominantly casting couch existed in the industry at that point of time. Maybe some people didn't come across it, but people like me did, and I decided not to make that choice. So, you are considered a failure because you come from a film family."
Rupali Ganguly further confessed that she had initially felt very small due to what people said about her. However, her perception of herself finally changed when she landed Anupamaa and was showered with love for her performance. In Rupali's words:
"Thanks to Anupamaa, I feel very proud. The show gave me the stature that I always dreamt of. It has been a life-changing experience."
For the unversed, Anupamaa is the story of a housewife who sets out to establish a name for herself. The show, which first aired in 2020, has been topping the TRP chats ever since. However, over the past few weeks, the show has been knocked from its number one spot, likely due to the many controversies surrounding its cast.
Earlier, reports had surfaced about Rupali Ganguly potentially leaving Anupamaa has surfaced. Well, in a chat with The Times Of India, the actress denied the same and shared that she had no plans of leaving the show. She added that she will be an integral part of the show until the end. Rupali stated that some people have an overly active imagination when talking to the publication. She stated:

"Wow, people really have some overactive imagination. But thank you for talking about me and talking about the show. What can I say? Every person has a core, and my core, I believe, is gratitude. My husband and I both believe that whatever Rajan Ji has given me, the recognition, the platform, and the position, I will never be able to repay it in this lifetime."
