Ryan Gosling, in an interview with the People, said that his co-star, Margot, had made it compulsory for the entire cast and crew to dress in a pink outfit once every week. Talking about the same, he said:
“Margot had this pink day once a week, where everyone had to wear something pink. And if you didn’t, you were fined. She would go around collecting the fines, and she would donate it to a charity."
Ryan also mentioned that the male crew members had no problem with the rule. Towards the end of the film's production, all the male crew got together and made pink crew shirts with rainbow fringes with their own money. He added:
"It was this opportunity for them to show their respect and admiration for what Margot and Greta were creating. It was almost like that scene at the end of Dead Poets Society, where they all get on their desk and say, 'O captain! My captain!'"

Simu Liu, who plays the role of one of many ‘Kens’ in the movie Barbie, in the same interview mentioned to the People that Margot Robbie had even hosted a sleepover party for the ‘Barbies’ of the film. He said:
"Margot was so great. She had a sleepover with the Barbies before photography started, and the Kens were allowed to either visit briefly or to phone in and say hi."
Simu Liu further added that all the ‘Kens’ wanted to support all the ‘Barbies’ but did not want to disturb them with their presence. Hence, all the ‘Barbies’ and ‘Kens’ got into a group chat, while Ken’s friend, ‘Allan’, played by Michael Cera, was left out of the chat. In the same interview, Michael pointed out:
"I don’t have an iPhone myself. I have a flip phone. But I still think I wouldn’t belong anyway, because Allan is sort of in his own little world. Greta’s gift for me when I arrived was a picture disc of NSYNC’s No Strings Attached, which felt like somehow a real guiding light in the backstory of this character."
It is anticipated that the storyline of the fantasy film, Barbie, would be based on ‘Barbie’ leaving the ‘Barbie land’ in order to explore the real world. Her bae, ‘Ken', would follow her. Both the characters will delve into the joys and pitfalls of the real world. Margot Robbie, the protagonist in the film, said that her co-star, Ryan Gosling is a gifted actor. Opening about the same in an interview with the People, she said:
"Ryan is the most comedically gifted actor I have ever worked with. He really is. He’s known for his dramatic acting, and rightly so. But he is unbelievably gifted with comedy, and I ruined most of his takes because I was laughing through all of it."

Barbie’s director, Greta Gerwig, had Amy Schumer as ‘Barbie’ in her mind. But eventually, due to creative differences with the team, Amy backed out of the project. And then, Margot Robbie was roped in as the new ‘Barbie’ in January 2019. Later, the role of ‘Ken’ was offered to Ryan Gosling in 2021, which he happily accepted.
The extravagant and vibrant pink sets of Greta Gerwig's film, Barbie, have cost Warner Bros a fortune. Greta, in an interview with the New York Times, revealed that the production cost is around USD 145 million. This should come as no surprise as the film stars some of the prominent A-list actors of Hollywood.
Great Gerwig’s Barbie and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer will hit the theatres this Friday, July 21, 2023. The entire production team of Barbie hopes for a decent collection for the film in the first week.
