Indians are bringing out their inner patriot with full josh as Independence Day is right around the corner. The entertainment industry is also fully prepared to make the day even more special with a series of patriotic films lined up for release this weekend. While the big screen will be painted in the tricolour by War 2 and action fervour by Coolie, Netflix has also followed their steps and brought a perfect blend of the two with a gripping espionage thriller titled Saare Jahan Se Accha. The series was released on the OTT platform, breaking Netflix's usual Friday release pattern.
On August 12, 2025, Netflix took to their X (formerly Twitter) handle and shared the release date of Saare Jahan Se Accha. The makers announced the news of the series being released on the OTT platform. The release on Wednesday comes as a contrast to Netflix's Friday release schedule. The post could be quoted as saying:
"I spy @pratikg80, @hinduja_sunny and Rajat Kapoor bringing the most intense drama of the year to you. Watch Saare Jahan Se Accha, out tomorrow, only on Netflix."
Directed by Sumit Purohit and created by Gaurav Shukla, Saare Jahan Se Accha is set to take the audience on a ride. The high-stakes spy thriller offers viewers a glimpse into the politically charged 1970s, following brilliant Indian spies on some of the most perilous missions. The story will feature the mission to dismantle the nuclear ambitions of a neighbouring country. Along the way, the show dives deep into the inner struggles and sharp intellect of India's early intelligence officers.
The series has come to Netflix with an extremely strong cast, including Pratik Gandhi, who initially won everyone's hearts with his role in Scam 1992. The actor will mark his return to the screen in a new avatar. After his powerful performance in Phule, the actor takes on the role of a RAW operative. He plays a member of RAW's inaugural team. Along with Pratik, the film will also feature Tillotama Shome, Sunny Hinduja, Anup Soni, Suhail Nayyar, Kritika Kamra, and Rajat Kapoor in key roles.
It has only been hours since Saare Jahan Se Accha was released on Netflix, and the enthusiastic netizens have already started sharing their views on the series. A user penned, "Started watching Saare Jahan Se Accha, 1970s espionage thriller…sharp start, totally hooked!" Another wrote, "Saare Jahan Se Accha is 'Salaakar' with more guile. But Netflix's new spy thriller is still not great, largely because it keeps contradicting itself in both tone and voice. Lost opportunity."

Saare Jahan Se Accha, while not directly based on true events, is inspired by historical incidents, including the 1971 Indo-Pak war. The series follows the mysterious death of nuclear scientist, Homi J. Bhabha, giving it a realistic edge. Saare Jahan Se Accha is produced by Bombay Fables. Made with a perfect blend of slick production, compelling performances, and a powerful story rooted in patriotism, the series could definitely be worth a watch this patriotic weekend.
