Various Indian television series have impressed us over the years, but one show that bowled the audience over in 2004, was Sarabhai Vs. Sarabhai. With its witty jokes and impressive characters, this show enjoyed the best TRPs and a 9.5 IMDb rating. What also captured the audience was the young couple in the series, the forever troubled Sahil Sarabhai, and the bubbly Monisha nee Manisha (name changed by her mother-in-law, Maya Sarabhai). This adorable couple taught us a lot about love.
So, let us walk through some of the vital relationship lessons that this couple taught to keep your marriage going!
We all saw how Monisha tried to fit into Sahil's family. We all could make our lives a little easier by being a bit more adjusting like her. No matter how much hatred 'upper-middle class' Maya showed towards typically 'middle-class' Monisha, she always cared for Maya. Like in one episode, Monisha postponed her plans with Sahil, just so he could take the unwell Maya to the hospital.
No matter how many times Monisha threatened to leave Sahil, he always knew how to convince her. And yes, we all know she was never leaving!
Innovative Monisha was always trying out new dishes to impress Sahil, and we never heard him complain (no matter how they tasted). Bechara Sahil, from biryani with tomato ketchup to simply ketchup with mint chutney for dinner, the poor guy was served anything and everything. But, he had it all with a happy face.

Being in a typical 'son' position, Sahil used to often get 'sandwiched' between his mom and wife. But, he managed to beautifully balance his relationship with them (almost) always. For instance, Monisha and Maya, unfortunately for Sahil, shared their birth date and both wanted to go out with him. His way of managing both the ladies is funny and commendable!

No explaining required for this one. Sahil and Monisha, both convinced everyone of their love for each other and finally got married. Maya disliked everything about Monisha, including her name, which originally was Manisha. So, now we know what “Manishaâ€Â did for love.
There is no fun in life if you do not have a crazy family. And, we bet most Indian families have that side. But, this one family just went a little overboard. Remember the episode, when Monisha doubted Sahil over his secret late-night calls to one of his patients. And, the entire Sarabhai clan too provoked Monisha to not forgive Sahil too easily (although they knew, that the patient was a 60-year-old female) but wanted some fun out of the two. Sahil however, did not give up trying to convince Monisha.
We all saw how both Sahil and Monisha embraced their disparities throughout the show and filled their relationship with unconditional love. Like during this one instance, on her birthday while Monisha wanted to go to a reasonable place to save money, Sahil was already planning a lavish lunch for her. But, the way the couple work things out is one thing all of us must learn.

Sahil understood Monisha's odd ways and dealt with them accordingly, similar to how Monisha always tried to do things to make him happy. In all the episodes, we saw how Sahil patiently tells Monisha about the dirty house but never lost patience with her.
What we understand from this playful show Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai, is that both you and your partner may not be perfect, but one can always make the relationship so. A little effort is all that we really need to make it work.
