Sai Deodhar Of 'Saara Akaash' Reveals She Was Engaged When Shakti Proposed: 'I Said I Am Sorry..'

Remember the famous serial, Saara Akash which aired in 2003. The young and dynamic actress, Sai Deodhar won hearts with her role as 'Flight LT. Monica'. Her first show gave her immense stardom in the era when saas-bahu serials were ruling the hearts. It was the same time when Sai found the man of her dreams in Shakti Anand, who was playing the role of 'Vikram Kochar' in the show. Recently, Sai shared her hilarious proposal story while she was already engaged to someone else.

Sai Deodhar revealed her love story with Shakti Anand

Fans were left genuinely happy when their favourite on-screen jodi of Saara Akash got married in real life. However, not many know that Sai was already engaged when Shakti Anand proposed to her. Recently, in an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Sai revealed that she was engaged to her father's childhood friend's son. And while working with Shakti, they had great chemistry and a genuine friendship, as they were really good as friends.

However, one night at three, Shakti called her and asked her for marriage, and she straight away said 'yes'. Sai shared that Shakti was left surprised and asked her to take time, and then give her answer, but she said yes in an instant. Further, Sai revealed that she woke her entire family at the same time and told them about her decision to marry Shakti and not her father's friend's son.

"One day at 3'O clock at night, he called me on my landline, and I said, 'Haan Shakti bolo.' He said, 'Mujhe ek baat karni hai tumse.' Mai ne kaha haan bolo teen baje raat ko phone kiya everything okay. Kehta, "Mujhe ek baat bolni thi, 'Mujhse shaadi karoge?' Suprising part yeh thi ki mai ne usi waqt kahe diya, 'Haan'."

Sai shared that she was engaged to her father's friend for six months, and she was just 21. While her parents happily agreed, they asked her not to get married so early in life. But inside her heart, she knew that Shakti was the one for her. Talking about her ex-fiance, Sai said:

"Unhone mujhe phone karke pucha, 'Yeh kaise'. Toh mai ne kaha, 'Listen I am sorry yaar, Shakti budhu hai, he should have called me to ask this much earlier pata nahi itni der se kya kar raha tha.' I said I am so sorry, I said I know I am breaking and all, and it is not right. But it would be good for us in the long run. You will be happy with someone else, I will be happy."

Sai Deodhar revealed hilarious roka ceremony 

Sai further shared her roka story, and revealed that her parents being Maharashtrian had thought that Shakti would come and then ask for marriage dates and all with them. But he came to her, baring suit and gifts for roka, which is a Punjabi ceremony that confirms the wedding. 

"My father though abi Shakti aayega, baat karega, hogi shaadi kabhi na kabhi, but he came with saree and all and papa kahe rahe hai yeh sab kya hai. Kehta Punjabio mein na uncle roka hota hai. Shaadi se pehle hum ladki rokli. My father was like apke parents, toh kehta, mai aaj bataunga unko ki mai ne roka kar liya."
