The news of Saif Ali Khan being stabbed in his own home has shocked the entire country. The actor is recovering at the Lilavati Hospital, and his stabber has been arrested. While the police further looked into the investigation, the auto driver who helped the actor to the hospital was reportedly given a surprise reward. On the other hand, some new information about the attacker has come to light.

Saif Ali Khan's stabbing incident left the entire industry shaken. Days later, the attacker has been arrested and is reported to be from Bangladesh. The night Saif was attacked, he was taken to the hospital in an auto-rickshaw. While the auto driver claimed he did not take any money from the actor, a report from News 24 has now alleged that an institution has rewarded the auto driver. According to the report, the auto-driver was rewarded Rs. 11,000 for good deeds.

It took Mumbai Police 600 CCTV scans and more than 300 cops to catch the attacker

In a major breakthrough, authorities, on January 18, 2025, arrested the suspected attacker. The arrest came three days after Saif Ali Khan was attacked. According to a report, it took Mumbai Police over 600 CCTV cameras to comb for even a tiny glimpse of the attacker, and more than 300 cops were deployed to track him down. For the unversed, Saif's attacker was identified via CCTV footage that was collected from the actor's residential complex. The video showed him running down the emergency exit stairs after fleeing from the actor's home.

The stabber, who was identified as Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, was then traced around the city with the help of the footage collected from Saif's residential complex. The accused was spotted in CCTV footage from a camera in DN Nagar, Andheri. In the footage, he was seen getting off a two-wheeler, and the vehicle was traced using its registration number. The footage led the cops to a rented house in Worli Koliwada. The police found out that he was living with three other people there, and cops were able to retrieve his name and phone number from his flatmates.

The police also found out Shehzad had purchased a paratha and a bottle of water from a local vendor near Century Mill, Worli. The police were able to track him further as he had paid him via UPI. The accused's mobile number and additional details further helped the cops trace him to Thane, where he was found sleeping in the midst of dense bushes near a labour camp in the city. However, reportedly, the attacker tried escaping the police, but he was outnumbered and eventually overpowered.

After Shehzad was arrested, the Mumbai Police found out that he was a serial criminal and was previously involved in another robbery. During the questioning, he revealed that he was a district-level and national-level wrestler in Bangladesh. Which cops believe helped him gain an upper hand with Saif Ali Khan during their altercation.
