Bollywood actor, Saif Ali Khan's first marriage to his ex-wife, Amrita Singh has always been the talk of the town. Their romance and age difference always raised many eyebrows. Not many know that the then 20-year-old, Saif was head-over-heels in love with Amrita's beauty and charm. He had first seen her on the sets of one of Rahul Ruwail's films. However, Saif Ali Khan's parents, Sharmila Tagore and Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi had clearly shown their disapproval as there was a huge age difference between the ex-couple.
For the unversed, Amrita was twelve years older than Saif. Despite it all, Saif had married Amrita in a secret wedding in October 1991. After which, they had their share of ups and downs and remained with each other for almost ten years until their divorce. They parted ways on a sour note. A lot was written about their relationship.

While the reason for their divorce remains unknown, in an old interview, Saif had claimed that Amrita used to abuse his mother and his sister. In an interaction with Subhash K Jha ages ago, Saif had revealed that he had gone through a worse time. Amrita used to hurl abuses at him and his family. He said:
"To have taunts, jeers, insults and abuses thrown at your mother and sister all the time. I’ve gone through all of it. I want no confrontation with Amrita. She was, and will remain, an integral part of my life. I want her and my kids to be happy."
In the same interaction, Saif Ali Khan also bared his heart out on how much he misses his kids, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan. The actor used to keep his son, Ibrahim's picture in his wallet all the time. Saif also revealed that he was not even allowed to meet his kids. He mentioned:
"Amrita and I have gone our separate ways. I respect her space. But why am I being constantly reminded of how terrible a husband I was, and how awful a father I am. I’ve my son Ibrahim’s photograph in my wallet. Each time I look at it, I feel like crying. I miss my daughter Sara all the time. I’m not allowed to meet my children. They aren’t allowed to come to visit me, let alone stay with me."
Saif also talked about the alimony he needed to give to his ex-wife, Amrita. He also shared how he was working hard to pay the amount to Amrita. Talking about the same, Saif shared:
"I’m supposed to give Amrita Rs 5 crore, of which I’ve already given her approximately Rs 2.5 crore. Also, I’m paying Rs 1 lakh per month until my son turns 18. ‘I’m not Shah Rukh Khan. I don’t have that kind of money. I’ve promised her I’ll pay up the rest of the money, and I will, even if I’ve to slog till I drop dead. Whatever I’ve earned from doing ads, stage shows and films is being given for my children. I’ve no money. Our bungalow is for Amrita and the kids."
Well, Amrita is not on friendly terms with Saif, but she never stopped her kids, Sara and Ibrahim from meeting him and being part of his celebrations!
