Sharmila Tagore appeared on Koffee With Karan 8 with her son, Saif Ali Khan, and the episode has been trending on the internet. Sharmila Tagore shared a dozen stories about her then-spoilt brat, Saif Ali Khan. She revealed how he had once run away with an air hostess instead of completing his bachelor's degree. The veteran actress also talked about his hush-hush wedding and the not-so-happy divorce from Amrita Singh. Sharmila also talked about her famous bikini shoot in 1960, and how her family dealt with it, especially Saif Ali Khan.
The 79-year-old actress shared her unfiltered version on the Koffee couch. She added that her fans including the entire film industry were shocked seeing her bikini scene as things were different during those times. She added even questions were raised in the Indian Parliament. Saif Ali Khan also revealed people in his boarding school would question him about the same. He said:
"People in my boarding school used to ask me, is that your mum? I was very proud of it."

Sharmila also recalled the shoot and stated that the photographer was worried, but she thought she looked very nice. However, people didn't take it in a positive light, and when the picture came out in the Filmfare, she had no idea about it. Talking about the same, Sharmila stated:
"Yes, the photographer was slightly worried and I just thought I looked very nice. It really hurt me later because everybody interpreted it in such a way that I was upwardly mobile, I was trying to catch eyeballs. I didn't feel like that. When it came out in Filmfare, I was in London and I was unaware till Shakti (Samanta) ji called me and said, will you come back quickly? There are terrible things happening here. He said if you want to be in the public eye, this is not the way to go."
Sharmila further shared that she was extremely upset with all this, so she sent a telegram to her husband, Tiger Pataudi. He sent a reply stating that she was looking extremely nice and that it was her only support. She also revealed that the questions were asked about the same in the parliament, and it wasn't a pleasant time.
Sharmila Tagore is one of the coolest mother-in-law. While Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh tried not to speak about their ugly divorce in the media, Sharmila beautifully revealed the situation on Karan Johar's show. Sharmila was the first person, who got to know about Saif's secret wedding, and was shattered. However, she was the first and only person, who didn't want them to part ways, but she still supported him.
Sharmila further hinted that their divorce wasn't a cordial one as they were together for such a long time, they had lovely children, and breaking up wasn't easy and not a harmonious one. She added that everyone was hurt and it wasn't a nice time for the family. However, it was Amrita Singh, who needed time to cool down.
