Saif Ali Khan is a well-known name in Tinseltown. He was previously married to Amrita Singh and welcomed two kids, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan with her. However, soon the couple parted ways on an ugly note. Later, Saif tied the knot for the second time with Kareena Kapoor, and the duo is proud parents to two boys, Taimur Ali Khan and Jehangir Ali Khan. However, Saif is a doting daddy to all his kids and adores them immensely.
During a candid conversation on Koffee With Karan 8, Saif Ali Khan spilled the beans about his first marriage with Amrita and revealed why things couldn't work out between them. To this, Karan Johar asked the actor if he had any criteria in mind for the women approaching his eldest son, Ibrahim Ali Khan. Responding to the same, Saif shared that they should be single. The Hum Tum actor said:
“My criteria doesn’t matter. Nobody is listening. Even though he does ask for some advice. Single, I’d say. The lady should be single.”

However, Saif Ali Khan further funnily added that if women are trying to approach his younger sons, Taimur Ali Khan and Jehangir Ali Khan, then they should be put behind bars. While the actor flaunted his witty side, his statements also spoke volumes about the protective and doting father that he is.
During the same episode, Sharmila Tagore shed light on the difficult time when Saif and Amrita parted ways. Speaking along the same lines, she added that it was not a happy time for the family as they were doubly deprived. Sharmila shared that they did not just lose Amrita but also her and Saif's kids, Sara and Ibrahim. She said:
"It's not just staying away, there are so many other things that are involved. It wasn't a happy time for us because Ibrahim was just three and we were very fond of the children. Especially, Tiger was really fond of Ibrahim and he would say, 'That's a good lad.' He didn't get that time with him. So we felt doubly deprived to lose Amrita and lose the two kids. So it's just not him but we also had to adjust to all that."

Saif Ali Khan also spoke about his divorce from Amrita Singh and revealed that though things changed immensely, the latter was a wonderful support. Talking about his equation with his ex-wife, Saif said that he shares a very good relationship with her and always respects her. He added:
“Things changed but she was a wonderful support. She is mother to two of my kids and I share a very good relation with her. It’s always respect. It's always bad when things don't work well, especially for the kids, something that you don’t want for them but unfortunately it happens.”
