Bollywood actor, Saif Ali Khan was discharged from Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital in Bandra on January 21, 2025. His wife, Kareena, accompanied him as they were seen leaving the hospital together. The actor was stabbed six times by Bangladeshi national, Shariful Islam Shehzad, a.k.a Vijay Das, at his Satguru Sharan residence. Shariful had entered Saif's building by scaling the compound wall. It has now been found that the security guards were sleeping.
A police official told PTI that Shariful had entered Satguru Sharan's residence from the main entrance of the building, and during that time, security guards were sleeping. When Shariful saw that both the security guards were sleeping, he entered the building by crossing the boundary wall. He removed his shoes, put them in the bag, and switched off the phone to avoid any noise. The official added:
"During the probe, the police found that there are no CCTV cameras installed in the building's corridor. The investigation revealed that one of the two security guards was sleeping in the cabin and the other near the gate."
The official also added that no CCTV cameras were installed at the main entrance or the building’s corridor, which allowed the intruder to avoid detection. The absence of proper surveillance cameras added more chaos to the security lapses.
The actor was drenched in blood when Taimur accompanied him to Lilavati Hospital on January 16, 2025. He had to immediately undergo surgery to remove a piece of the broken knife, which was 2.5 inches and very close to his spine. He had to spend five days in the hospital after undergoing surgery and is now out of danger, recovering. Mumbai Police also recreated the scene with the accused in the building to understand the series of events better. The Nawab suffered six wounds, out of which two were deep cuts. Doctors said that Saif's spinal fluid was leaking when he came to the hospital, but he was lucky to have escaped serious injuries. He was recovering well.
The Mumbai Police had taken Shariful back to the places where he had eaten, changed his clothes, and boarded the train. He is in jail, reportedly either in Santacruz or Bandra police station, and is given limited access only to the investigation officer in charge. A report by News 18 claimed he had been given the same food as the other prisoners. Shariful hailed from Bangladesh's Jhalokathi district and has been staying in Mumbai for five months. He did odd jobs via a housekeeping agency before planning the attack.

The cops mentioned that the accused had entered the building with the intention of robbery. He said that he did not know who Saif was and he targeted the home as he thought it belonged to a rich person.
After the horrific stabbing attack, Saif's security has been beefed. He employed the security services of actor, Ronit Roy's firm to amp up his personal security. The actor is on his recovery journey and is back with a bang.
