'Saif Ali Khan Was A Pain, Always Late', Kunal Kapoor Takes A Humorous Jab At 'Jewel Thief' Co-Star

Saif Ali Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat's upcoming thriller, Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins, will soon be released on Netflix. The film also stars Kunal Kapoor and Nikita Dutta. In a recent interview, the former has opened up about his experience working with Saif Ali Khan. For the unversed, the film will also mark Saif's return to the industry after the horrid attack on him earlier in 2025. 

Kunal Kapoor opens up about working with Saif Ali Khan

Saif Ali Khan will soon be seen as a suave thief in his upcoming film, Jewel Thief. While the promotion for the film are in full swing, the cast sat down for a candid conversation with Filmygyan and shared their experience working with each other. While Saif was absent from the conversation, it was Kunal Kapoor who grabbed the attention with his humorous response about Saif Ali Khan. 

During the conversation, while Nikita Dutta and Jaideep Ahlawat admitted to having fun on the set. Kunal claimed that he was lonely. He revealed that he felt lonely because he was not with them, but instead chasing after them, leaving him alone while they enjoyed each other's company. He was quoted as saying:

"Loneliness because I am not with them in the film, I am chasing them so I was alone on the set. These people would enjoy together."

Nikita Dutta admitted that since Kunal was the chaser in the film, he would shoot separately on the set. To which he further joked that he used to clean up and pick cups on the set. However, he took his humour on another level, when he took a sarcastic dig at Saif Ali Khan.

During the conversation, Kunal Kapoor was asked about his experience working with Saif, to which he jokingly replied that Saif Ali Khan was a pain to work with. The cast further laughed about how since Saif was not on social media, he won't see Kunal's statement unless it was published in a newspaper. Kunal was quoted as saying:

"He is a pain. It was difficult to work with him. He didn’t turn up on time, and when he did, he didn’t know his lines; then we had to wait until he learned them. Then take after take."

Saif Ali Khan on working with Jaideep Ahlawat

Earlier, Saif Ali Khan sat for a conversation with IANS, and spoke about his experience working with Jaideep Ahlawat. He stated that sharing the screen with the Pataal Lok actor brought such depth and unpredictability to the working experience. He called it exciting and shared how he can't wait for the audience to join them in the thrilling ride. He was quoted as saying:

"Sharing the screen with Jaideep Ahlawat, who brings such depth and unpredictability, made the experience even more exciting. I can't wait for audiences to join us on this thrilling ride on."

Jewel Thief is a heist film which will be released on Netflix on April 25, 2025. Along with Jaideep Ahlawat and Saif Ali Khan, the film also stars Kunal Kapoor and Nikita Dutta. The teaser for the film was released in February 2025, which offered the fans a glimpse into the movie's plot, showcasing Saif and Jaideep's characters joining forces to steal the coveted African Red Sun diamond. Kookie Gulati and Robbie Grewal direct the heist drama.
