After being caught in Thane on January 19, 2025, the man made his first confession in the Saif Ali Khan's stabbing case. It was in the wee hours of January 16, 2025, when a burglar tried to barge into the celebrity couple's home. He was first spotted by Saif Ali Khan's son, Jeh's nanny, and she yelled for help. It was their son's cry that made the couple know about the whole situation. To keep the family safe from the intruder with a knife, Saif fought him and got severely injured.
After being caught by Thane police, the man admitted to the crime, and it was his first confession. A police officer among the police personnel searching for the accused revealed to The Indian Express that the accused said:
"Ha maine hi kiya."
According to the police investigation, the primary evidence proves that he is a Bangladeshi and doesn't have any valid Indian ID proof. After committing the crime, the person changed his location multiple times and avoided being captured by a CCTV camera. The accused was hiding in the Dadar and Worli areas. However, Thane police caught him from the Ghodbunder area, where he was hiding in dense grass.
The main accused was identified as Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, and he was believed to be a Bangladeshi citizen. However, after the arrest, when he was presented in front of the court, his lady claimed that the police had no proof that he was from Bangladesh. Let us inform you the Bandra court has put the man in four days judicial custody.
For the unversed, it was on January 16, 2025, when an intruder barged into Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan's home in Mumbai. He was inside Jeh's room when his nanny found him and asked him what he wanted. To this, the intruder straight away demanded Rs. 1 crore. Meanwhile, the nanny yelled out for help, and Jeh, who was in her arms, started crying and ran out of the room.

Reportedly, after hearing the noises, Saif and Kareena entered the room to find the intruder. To protect his family, who was carrying a knife, Saif fought with him and suffered multiple injuries. He was stabbed by a sharp object six times, and two of them were serious.
