The saga of Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai ruled the headlines in the 90s when the two were head-over-heels in love with each other. It was on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s cult film, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, when Salman and Aishwarya’s on-screen romance transformed into their off-screen love. As the film commenced shooting, the two saw each other.
Salman and Aishwarya were seen attending public events without shying away from getting clicked together. In many interviews, Salman openly confessed his love for the former Miss World. While people said that Salman was very passionate about his love story with Aishwarya Rai, which was soon turning into marriage, then came the news that these once-lovebirds had parted ways.

Salman and Aishwarya hardly displayed any PDA during their dating phase. However, once the two were caught off guard, pictures of them were shared in one of the leading magazines. In the first and second pictures, Salman was seen settling Aishwarya in her car while making sure the door was locked properly.
In the third picture, the handsome actor was seen giving a peck of love on his ladylove’s cheek, and she blushed. In the pictures, the two were seen looking madly in love with one another. When the pictures were published, it raised many eyebrows, but Aish and Salman’s fans were delighted to see their favourite couple sharing a cozy moment.

From their steamy chemistry in the 1999 film, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam to the raging controversies that dominated the late 1990s and early 2000s news columns, Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai's love saga has always been a deeply embedded mystery in the chapter of B-town. The ex-couple had an ugly breakup, and Aishwarya Rai revealed the reason behind the same. In a throwback interview with The Times of India, she bared her heart out and said:
“Salman and I broke up last March, but he isn't able to come to terms with it. After we broke up, he would call me and talk rubbish. He also suspected me of having affairs with my co-stars. I was linked up with everyone, from Abhishek Bachchan to Shah Rukh Khan. There were times when Salman got physical with me, luckily without leaving any marks. And I would go to work as if nothing had happened.”
When Aishwarya Rai blamed Salman for their breakup, it didn’t go down well with the actor’s younger brother, Sohail Khan. Speaking to the media, Sohail openly slammed Aishwarya for her comments and stated that when she had an affair with Salman, she never acknowledged it, which made Salman insecure. Taking a potshot on Aishwarya’s affair with Vivek Oberoi, Sohail said:
“Aishwarya was in constant touch with Salman Khan till recently on the mobile and that’s what upset Vivek.”

During the #MeToo movement, a video of a throwback interview of Salman Khan emerged, in which the actor was asked by the journalist if he has ever hit a woman. To which Salman had replied:
“Yeah, now that woman has said that I have. I mean there was a journalist Prabhu Chawla who asked me this long time ago, so I just banged the table he got startled, the table really broke. I mean, if I hit somebody, it's obviously a fight, I am going to be angry. I am going to whack and give it my best shot. I don't think she would've survived it."
