One of the major questions that has been hovering over the minds of everyone is- When will Salman Khan get married? Not just the journalists are tired of asking this question, even Salman is fed up of answering it in almost every media interaction of his. No denying that everyone needs a life partner who stays with him/her through all the ups and downs in life, and Salman Khan is no exception! But as it is said, good things take time and marriage in Sallu bhai’s case is taking its own sweet time.
But do you know once Salman was almost getting married, even the invitation cards were printed, and preps were made? The lucky lady was none other than actress, Sangeeta Bijlani. Unfortunately, their wedding was called off at the very last moment. It was then reported that the reason behind the same was Salman's infidelity as he was caught red-handed cheating on her with Somy Ali. Ever since then, Salman may has been linked up with many actresses and was in a relationship with a few, but he has never taken the decision to tie the knot. Nonetheless, in a recent tête-à-tête with the Mumbai Mirror, Salman Khan expressed his desire to have babies and while doing so, he dropped a major hint on becoming a father. Here’s what he had said, “I want children, but with children comes the mother. I don’t want the mother, but they need one. But I have a whole village to take care of them. Maybe I can work out a win-win situation for everyone.” Is he working out for that ‘win-win’ situation as he said?
The reason why we are speculating about Salman becoming a father is because some time back, rumours had it that Salman might probably be taking the route of surrogacy, just like other single celeb fathers, Karan Johar and Tusshar Kapoor. At that time, a leading entertainment beat had reported that Salman was planning to have a child as his parents are looking forward to becoming grandparents. The icing on the cake was a TOI report that had earlier suggested that Salman might be opting for surrogacy soon. The report had then stated, “Since Salman Khan is yet not ready for marriage, our sources have told us that the actor is opting for surrogacy instead. Many stars from Bollywood like Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Karan Johar, Ekta Kapoor have opted for surrogacy in recent times. And now, Salman Khan is also ready to follow this route since he has no plans to get married. The actor has always shared a close bonding with his nieces and nephews, and finally, he is ready to welcome his own kid to the Khan family through surrogacy."

Afterwards, in a statement to The Times of India, Salman was quoted as saying, “I do want to have a child, but with child, the mother comes. And when the mother comes, big complications happen as I am not the husband material. I am the father type. It will be unfair for anyone to think that I will change him. I will not change. I sometimes feel surrogate type ka ho jaye, but then look how close we are to our mothers so when the kid grows up, he or she will ask maa kaun? They will then think that my father for his own selfish reasons has kept us without a mother. And then my parents too would like to see my children. So, it’s all very complex.” (Do Read: Ananya Panday Considers Bestie, Suhana Khan's Superstar Father, Shah Rukh Khan As Her Second Dad)
Every now and then, Salman bhai is questioned about his marriage plans. In an interview earlier with a leading tabloid, Salman had retorted, "Wo mere paas uska koi jawab nahi hai, mujhe iss baat se bahut khushi hoti hai ki bahut sare logo ko meri shaadi ki chinta hai, pareshani hai, lekin mujhe hairat yeh hoti hai ke meri shaadi se inka kya faayda hoga. Toh aisa koi jawab hai hi nahi, haan ka bhi nahi, naa ka bhi nahi, maybe ka bhi nahi, lekin jis waqt hogi, hogi, nahi hogi toh nahi hogi.”
He had further added, “Main bahut khush hoon, main bahut zyaada khush hoon (I am happy about the fact that people are concerned about my wedding, but it makes me wonder what good will it to do to people who are so concerned about my marriage. I don’t have an answer, neither yes, no or maybe. If it happens, it happens. If it doesn’t, then it doesn’t. I am very happy, very very happy. Seriously)!”
Even in 2017, conjectures were that Salman was tying the knot, but those fade away quite soon. Later, when Salim Khan was asked if he is pressurising Salman to get married, he had replied, “It’s Salman's choice – whenever he wants to marry or not marry. I have never influenced my children, neither have I approved their choice. This is a family that never insults anybody, leave aside giving them orders. It’s a big responsibility – kal ko shaadi mein gadbad ho jaaye toh aake mujhe bolenge ki aap hi ne kaha tha shaadi karne (laughs)."
