Karan Arjun marked Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan's most memorable pairing, so much so that the film was re-release in theatres across India on November 22, 2024, on fans demand. The Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan starrer was released 30 years ago in January 1995. Director, Rakesh Roshan's Karan Arjun, was a milestone film in the careers of Salman and Shah Rukh Khan. The movie established them as action heroes.
Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan both have been extremely open about their mischiefs on the set of their 1995 hit film, Karan Arjun. The cast and crew of the film fell victim to several of their pranks. However, there was one that was so cruel that it left the members horrified. Their Karan Arjun co-star, Johnny Lever sat for a conversation with Galataa and revealed that while they were shooting for the film in Jaipur, Salman shot Shah Rukh Khan. He stated:
"We were shooting Karan Arjun in Jaipur, and after shoot in the evening, we used to party. We were drinking, dancing, and enjoying. Salman used to tease Shah Rukh on the set. He used to call him a star and tease his dancing. We were all worried that Shah Rukh would be offended if it turns serious."
In the same conversation, Johnny added that one evening at a party, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan started fighting out of the blue. He further added that Salman got angry and started firing at Shah Rukh Khan and the latter colapsed, which shocked them all. Johnny shared that their co-star, Honey Irani was on the verge on an attack, when Shah Rukh got up and started laughing. He stated:
"Shah Rukh collapsed. We all were shocked. Honey Irani gasped. She was on the verge of an attack. But they were joking. What a prank it was. Then Shah Rukh got up and both of them just started laughing."
Salman had once addressed this prank when he appeared on Aap Ki Adalat. The actor had shared that he had told Shah Rukh Khan that he will call the latter for dance at the party. He added that he had asked the King actor to not come which would lead to a scuffle and further their actual prank. He stated:
"I told Shah Rukh, I’ll call you for dance, you refuse, and then we will engage in a scuffle, and here’s a blank gun. I will fire a shot at you and you will fall down. My brother Sohail was there. I pulled Shah Rukh’s hand, and he snatched away his hand. He pushed me, and I also pushed him, a scuffle ensued, I took out the gun and fired a shot at him. Shah Rukh did a somersault and fell down."
Karan Arjun was directed by Rakesh Roshan and also starred Kajol, Mamta Kulkarni, Rakhee, and Amrish Puri in lead roles. The film followed the jouney of two brothers and the topic of reincarnation. It was a massive hit on box-office, accumilating a grand total of Rs. 43 crores on a Rs. 6 crore budget.
