The Scindia School, one of the oldest boarding schools in India is situated at the heart of the historic Gwalior Fort in Madhya Pradesh. Considered to be one of India’s most elite boys-only boarding schools, many Bollywood celebs to famous Indian industrialists have left their footprints in this historic building. Established in 1897 by HH Maharaja Madhavrao, this school is standing tall over 110 acre land.
The Scindia School was originally named the Sardar’s School as it was created keeping in mind the noble and royal class families especially the sons of Maratha communities. The fees structure for Indian students ranges from Rs 13.25 lakh to Rs 15.30 lakh whereas for international students the annual fees is Rs 15.30 lakh. From Bollywood star, Salman Khan to famous Indian industrialist and philanthropist, Sunil Bharti Mittal, let’s have a look at the list of notable alumni, who went to the Scindia School.
The Dabangg star, Salman Khan, is one of the notable alumni of the Scindia School. After spending a few years in this school, Salman moved to another city, Mumbai. Salman completed his schooling at Stanislaus High School in Bandra, Mumbai. After completing schooling, he took admission in St. Xavier's College but later dropped out of the same. Salman made his acting debut with a supporting role in the film, Biwi Ho To Aisi, starring Rekha in the lead role. Now, Salman is one of the superstars of Bollywood who holds a special place in the heart of the audience.
Arbaaz Khan, brother of Salman Khan also attended the Scindia School with Bhaijaan. But just like Salman, Arbaaz too moved to Bandra, Mumbai and completed his schooling from the same school from where Salman too completed his schooling, Stanislaus High School. Then Arbaaz pursued a Bachelor's degree in Economics from University of Mumbai. Arbaaz made his debut in Bollywood with the film, Daraar, starring Juhi Chawla.

Renowned filmmaker, Anurag Kashyap, was also one of the notable alumni of the Scindia School. After his schooling at Dehradun, Anurag joined Scindia School from grade 7 onwards and completed his schooling from the same institute. Anurag went on to become an acclaimed director in Bollywood and directed hit films like Gangs of Wasseypur, Black Friday. Besides being a well-known filmmaker, Anurag also tried his hand in acting and was praised for portraying dark characters in films like Akira, AK vs AK, and Shagird.
Renowned filmmaker, Sooraj Barjatya, too, is in the list of notable alumni of the Scindia School. Sooraj made his directorial debut with the film, Maine Pyar Kiya, starring Salman Khan. He gave the industry many hits like Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Saath-Saath Hain, Vivaah, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, and more.
Famous radio announcer, Ameen Sayani, moved to Gwalior in 1954 and joined the Scindia School. He is also one of the prominent alumni of the Scindia School. Ameen Sayani rose to fame with his hit radio show, Binaca Geetmala. His brother, Hamid Sayani, was the first person who introduced Ameen Sayani to the All India Radio, Mumbai. He also worked as a radio presenter in a number of shows like Bhoot Bangla, Teen Devian, Boxer, and Qatl.
The Scindia School’s list of notable alumni not only includes Bollywood celebrities but also the top business minds of India. Starting with Sunil Bharti Mittal, the founder of Bharti Enterprises. Famous Indian industrialist and philanthropist first joined a school in Musoorie, Wynberg Allen School, and later moved to the royal school of Gwalior, the Scindia School. At the age of 18, he started his business venture with a capital of Rs 20,000 borrowed from his father.
Famous business tycon, the founder of NIIT, Rajendra Singh Pawar was also an alumnus of the Scindia School. He later graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi with a B.Tech in electrical engineering. He began his career as a trainee engineer at Larsen and Toubro Limited and later founded NIIT in 1981.
Scindia School has definitely laid the groundwork level learning of such notable alumni who hold a prominent place in the world of glamour and business. The institute today must be proud to be the alma mater of such famous personalities.
