Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu's separation had come as the biggest shock to Tollywood. The stunning couple, who was the epitome of relationship goals, had called off their marriage five days prior to their fourth wedding anniversary. Reports of trouble in their marital life had been doing the rounds for the past few months.
Samantha's absence from her father-in-law, Nagarjuna's birthday bash and dropping 'Akkineni' from her surname had added fuel to the rumours. On October 2, 2021, Samantha and Chaitanya's had put an end to all the speculations when they had officially announced their separation.

After announcing her separation from Chaitanya, Samantha had taken a break from her work and went for a spiritual tour to Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri. The actress is now back to her bay and a few moments back, she shared a cryptic post about self-love on her IG stories. Samantha's post talked about empowering daughters rather than marrying them off.
After Samantha and Naga Chaitanya had announced their divorce, reports had started doing the rounds in the media that the actress was offered alimony of Rs. 200 crores. However, according to a report in India Today, Samantha had declined the offer. A source close to her had revealed that Samantha had refused the alimony and did not want to take a single penny from Chaitanya or his family.

Talking about their heartbreaking announcement, on the afternoon of October 2, 2021, Samantha and Naga Chaitanya had issued a joint statement on their respective IG handles and announced their separation. Their statement could be read as:
“To all our well-wishers. After much deliberation and thought Chay and I have decided to part ways as husband and wife to pursue our own paths. We are fortunate to have a friendship of over a decade that was the very core of our relationship which we believe will always hold a special bond between us.”
Post their separation, there have been a lot of reasons quoted for Samantha and Chaitanya's separation. She was also linked with her stylist, Preetam Jukalker. In an interview with The Times Of India, Preetam had reacted to the rumours and said that he is upset with Chaitanya's silence over the same and how Samantha is like a sister to him. In his words:
"Everybody knows that I call Samantha as ‘Jiji’ which is a north Indian term for sister. How can there possibly be a link-up between us?"
On the professional front, Samantha Ruth Prabhu will be next seen in critically-acclaimed director, Gunasekhar's film, Shaakuntalam.
