Sameer Wankhede Files Rejoinder In 'The Ba***ds Of Bollywood' Defamation Battle, 'A Malicious Act..'

Aryan Kahn's debut series, The Ba***ds of Bollywood, created a frenzy among the viewers. The show has the audience gasping for air with its satirical reimagination of some of Bollywood's most controversial incidents. Among them was Aryan's own alleged rendition of the high-profile drug case involving Sameer Wankhede. However, the segment didn't age well with the former officer, and he filed a defamation case against Red Chillies Entertainment.

Red Chillies Entertainment recently defended itself against a defamation case arising from its web series, The Ba***ds of Bollywood. The case was filed by an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, Sameer Wankhede. And now, the former NCB official has hit back at the Shah Rukh Khan-owned production house. Sameer has filed a rejoinder before the Delhi High Court. In the statement, he has called the show 'a calculated hit job' aimed at maligning him, while also dismissing Red Chillies' claim that the show is satire.

Sameer Wankhede made the additional statement after his petition against the show. The actor had claimed that a character in the show was modelled after him and shown in a negative light. The former officer alleged that the character of a government officer depicted in the series was deliberately modelled on him, citing striking resemblances in appearance, speech, and the use of his trademark phrase, "Satyamev Jayate." Sameer claimed that the scene amounted to a "premeditated, targeted campaign intended to ridicule and destroy his reputation".

Red Chillies Entertainment defended itself against the claims, stating that Sameer Wankhede had misunderstood the series. They further called the defamation suit "wholly misconceived, untenable in law, and devoid of merit." For the unversed, the show is directed by Aryan Khan and produced by Red Chillies, owned by Aryan's father, Shah Rukh Khan. The production house claimed that The Ba***ds of Bollywood is a situational satire that does not name or depict Smaeer and contains no defamatory material.

Sameer Wankhede filed a rejoinder calling the show a 'revenge act'

Sameer Wankhede has now filed a rejoinder before the court, saying, "the series is not satire but a calculated hit job designed to settle personal scores." For the unversed, Aryan Khan and Sameer have a history; the officer had arrested the filmmaker in a drugs case after a raid on a cruise ship by the NCB in 2021. Sameer had led the case, and Aryan spent three weeks in jail during the investigation, but the charges were later dropped. In the rejoinder, Sameer accused Red Chillies of using the show as a form of revenge against him. The statement was quoted as:

Red Chillies Entertainment further called Sameer Wankhede's plea an attempt to stifle legitimate artistic expression. The production house said that removing the 'disputed' scene would distort the series' narrative flow, which has been streaming on Netflix since September 18, 2025. The Delhi High Court directed all parties to file written submissions. The next hearing will take place on November 10, 2025, before Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav.
