Sania Mirza proved to the world that a woman can fight the entire world for love but won't sacrifice her self-respect in marriage. The ace tennis player, Sania Mirza kept her personal life private and never addressed trouble in marriage rumours. However, Pakistan and India were left shocked when Shoaib Malik announced his third marriage with Sana Javed. It was later, Sania's father, Imran Mirza, revealed that his daughter had taken khula, which is an Islamic term for women initiating divorce. Sania gave hope to many women to restart their lives when things go down the tunnel.
Sania continues to live in Dubai with her son, Izhaan. However, for the Eid celebration, the former tennis player arrived at her father, Imran Mirza Malik's palatial home in Hyderabad, India. Her sister, Anam Mirza, and her family were also present. Taking to her Instagram handle, Sania posed with her son, Izhaan. While Sania looked gorgeous in a suit, her son donned a white kurta-pyjama. The mother-son duo looked adorable as they were seen sharing an inside joke. Along with the photo, Sania wrote:
"My whole (heart emoji.)"

Talking about Shoaib's first Eid, his wife Sana took to her Instagram handle and posted two monochrome pictures. In the photos, Sana was wrapping her arms around Shoaib's neck as he looked mesmerised by her beauty. The actress was decked up in a saree, which was teamed with a sleeveless blouse. Sana and Shoaib looked super happy as they celebrated their first Eid. Along with it, Sana wrote:
"Eid Mubarak."
Sania and her family didn't talk about her divorce for long. However, after Shoaib announced his wedding to Sana Javed, the Mirza family spoke about the ex-couple's separation for the first time. On January 21, 2024, Sania's sister, Anam Mirza, took to her Instagram handle and shared a picture note on her behalf. She conveyed how Sania kept her personal life away from the media glares. She added that she separated from Shoaib a few months ago, and Sania wishes him well on his journey. Anam also said that it is a sensitive period of her life and requested privacy from fans.
Earlier, Sania's father, Imran Mirza, spoke to the PTI about the same. He shared that his daughter has taken a khula from him. In Islam, Khula is a legal term that refers to a form of divorce which is initiated by the wife, wherein she seeks a separation from her husband. Unlike talak, which a husband takes, Khula allows the woman to divorce her husband, giving them equal rights.
