On May 4, 2020, Sanjay Dutt took to his Instagram handle and shared a picture with late actor Rishi Kapoor, and his son, Ranbir Kapoor. Ranbir had portrayed the character of Sanjay Dutt in the latter’s biopic, Sanju in 2018, and it seems that Ranbir has fallen into a similar pattern of life like Sanjay Dutt himself. Sharing the picture, Sanjay Dutt talked about how he is finding hard to bear Rishi ji’s death as he was like an elder brother to him. He wrote, “One thing that Chintu Sir taught me was to always do things with a smile on our face! It's going to take some time to sink in that Chintu Sir is not with us anymore. He has always been an elder brother to me. Can't believe he is gone!” Take a look at the picture below.
Seeing Sanjay Dutt’s post, his daughter, Trishala Dutt and wife, Maanayata Dutt came forward to lend their love and support, and consoled the Munna Bhai MBBS actor. His daughter, Trishala Dutt commented on the post saying, "He will be deeply missed dad, I love you" followed by kiss emoticons. However, his wife, Maanayata Dutt posted three red hearts to show her love and support for her husband.
On April 30, 2020, soon after the news of Rishi sir’s demise broke, Sanjay Dutt had taken to his Instagram handle to express his grief about losing his ‘elder brother’. He penned down an emotional note for Rishi ji, captioning it as “I will miss you Chintu sir.” His note could be read as "Dear Chintu sir, You have been an inspiration to me throughout my life and career. You have taught me to live life to the fullest and to face life even when I was going through my low days. I had the honour to work with you in many films where you always guided me. You fight against cancer has been long. But you never made me feel once that you were suffering even when I spoke to you in New York... even at that time you were so full of life."
