Ahead of celebrating the occasion, in an interview with ETimes, Sanjay had shared his excitement as this year was his first Lohri with his wife, Poonam. Talking about the same, the actor had mentioned:
“This is my wife Poonam Preet and my first Lohri after marriage and we are celebrating with our family in Surat. Since one should ideally not be stepping out in current circumstances, we will be celebrating at home. We want to take all the precautions and we don’t want to put our families and ourselves at risk. My wife – whom I dated for 10 years before tying the knot – is Punjabi and I am Sindhi, and Lohri has always been very special for us.”

Further adding into the conversation, the actor had even requested his followers to follow safety protocols while wishing them for Lohri as Covid-19 and Omicron cases are rising in the country. Sanjay had said:
“My message to my fans who are celebrating the festival is that they should stay safe. Take all the necessary precautions with regard to your family’s and your own safety. I also wish that things get better soon for all of us and hope that we can say goodbye to COVID at the earliest.”
On the other hand, even though Maharasthra CM hasn't declared a complete lockdown or restrictions over weddings and reception, being responsible citizens, Sanjay and Poonam had decided to postpone their reception for a few days. The newlywed actor had shared his thoughts on the same and had said in an old interview with the Times of India:
"First of all, we had to take this decision as it was the need of the hour. Being someone who is followed by many, I have to set an example right where I myself act as a responsible citizen. The cases have been rising majorly and despite all the preparations done, we had to call this off. We will keep everyone posted about the dates changed but as of now I would request all my fans to stay safe and adhere to the current Covid protocols."
We absolutely loved Sanjay and Poonam's low-key Lohri celebration. What about you?
