Sanjeeda Shaikh and Aamir Ali had defined relationship goals to millennials for almost 7 years. After years of courtship, it was on March 2, 2012, when Sanjeeda and Aamir had said ‘qubool hai’ in a nikaah ceremony and had started their ‘happily ever after’ journey. The duo had welcomed a baby girl through surrogacy on August 30, 2019, whom they have named Ayra Ali.
After 7 years of togetherness, the reports about Sanjeeda Shaikh and Aamir Ali calling it quits had started doing the rounds in the media. In January 2020, a report by SpotboyE had claimed that everything is not well between the couple and they are heading for separation. The report had also stated that they were already living separately, and it was Sanjeeda, who had taken the decision to pull all their wedding chords and headed to her mother's home.

Now, according to a report in Hindustan Times, Aamir Ali and Sanjeeda Shaikh got officially divorced nine months back. While the two have never addressed the reports of their split, according to the portal, the two don’t plan to officially announce their divorce. The portal quoted its source as saying:
“It has been around nine months since the divorce papers came through. They have moved on in their respective lives. Both of them are extremely private, and thus didn’t wish to give out any official statement about the divorce.”
The portal also mentioned that the custody of their two-year-old daughter, Ayra Ali is given to her mother, Sanjeeda Shaikh, who is reportedly living in her paternal house after the divorce. When contacted, neither Aamir nor Sanjeeda denied or confirmed their divorce reports. While Sanjeeda said, “No comments. I just want to make my child proud,” Aamir shared, “I wish Sanjeeda all the happiness.”
Earlier, according to a report in SpotboyE, it was stated that Sanjeeda was the one to walk out of the couple's house. She had told Aamir that she was going to stay at her mother's place, and never returned to him from her mayka. Initially, Aamir was not aware of her motive and thought that the actress has gone only to visit her mom’s residence for some days, and she will return soon.

However, the wait only got longer as Sanjeeda had decided to end their marital chord. It was later that she had informed Aamir about her decision to end things as it was over from her end and she will not return. While Aamir was expecting her to return in a few days, things had taken an ugly turn, when Sanjeeda had taken a firm decision. If the reports are to be believed, it was Sanjeeda, who had called things off.
