'Panchayat's Sanvikaa Opens Up About Being An Outsider In Bollywood, Says, 'Wish I Was An Insider..'

For ages, there has been a debate about being a privileged and outsider in the Bollywood industry. It is believed that it is easier for actors with a film background to make their way in the industry whereas the outsiders with no godfather have to struggle a lot and still go unnoticed. This thing is one of the most talked about topics in the industry. Recently, Panchayat fame, Sanvikaa a.k.a Pooja Singh, shared her experience as an outsider on her Instagram Stories. 

Sanvikaa wished to be an insider in this industry

Actress, Sanvikaa, who played the role of 'Rinki' in the show, Panchayat recently shared a candid thought on her Instagram Stories, expressing her wish to be an insider in the Bollywood industry. She felt things would have been a little easier and powerful for her. In just a few lines, she explained how being an outsider can make basic things like respect and equal treatment hard to come. Sanvikaa’s story clearly takes everyone back to the long debate of nepotism. She had written:

“Sometimes I wish I was an insider or may be from a very powerful background, things would have been so much easier (maybe, I don’t know). As basic as getting respect and being treated as an equal. The battles would have been lesser. Hanging on…”

Sanvikaa’s journey from an engineer to a Bollywood actor

Sanvikaa, whose real name is Pooja Singh, is from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. She did engineering and was preparing herself for a stable 9 to 5 job, just like any other child from a middle-class family. But despite doing all of this, acting was always in her mind. So, one day, she told her parents that she is going to Bangalore for some work, but instead, she flew to Mumbai and started her secret journey, which was full of self belief. 

In Mumbai, she started off her journey as an assistant costume designer and worked on a few ad films. Simultaneously, she was also giving auditions but faced a lot of rejections. Eventually, she got an advertisement that became her first step in her acting journey. But, her major break was the role of 'Rinki', 'Pradhan Ji’s' daughter in the show, Panchayat Season 2. Even though she had a limited screen time, she won a lot of hearts and quickly became a household name. From there, she got a lot of other roles in web series like Lakhan Leela Bhargava and Hajamat.

Panchayat is a comedy drama set in the village of Phulera. The show follows 'Abhishek Tripathi' (played by Jitendra Kumar), an engineering graduate who is forced to become the Panchayat secretary. The series beautifully captures rural life and relationships, blending humor with real emotions. The show has already completed three seasons successfully and over these three seasons, viewers have been attached to characters like 'Pradhan Ji' (played by Raghubir Yadav), 'Manju Devi' (played by Neena Gupta), 'Vikas' (played by Chandan Roy) and 'Rinki' (played by Sanvikaa). Now, one of the most loved shows, Panchayat is all set to come up with its fourth season, which will be released on June 24, 2025 on Amazon Prime Video. The new season will dive deeper into village politics, social issues and 'Abhishek's bond with 'Rinki'.
