Satish Shah Said He Was In 'No Hurry To Die' As He Spoke About Taking A Sabbatical From Acting

Satish Shah, an actor par excellence, has, over the years, made people laugh their hearts out with his wit and comedy. Though all the characters he played remain etched in people’s memories, the carefree ‘Indravadhan Sarabhai’ from the show Sarabhai vs Sarabhai is his most relatable role. His childlike charm enamoured people of all ages.

Satish Shah’s untimely death left his friends, family, and fans devastated. The actor bid adieu to the world on October 25, 2025, at the age of 74. The cause of his death was kidney failure, and he had undergone a transplant three months ago. But unfortunately, destiny had other plans, and the actor breathed his last at his Bandra home.

Satish Shah said he was in ‘no hurry to die’

In a throwback conversation with CNN-News18, Satish Shah discussed taking a break from acting and said he was rejuvenating himself. In his words:

“I've stopped performing in public now, I mean in movies and otherwise. I have taken, you could say, a sabbatical, and it has been rather long. Pehle se meri fitrat main raha hai, main koi cheez enjoy karta hoon tabhi karta hoon. I stopped enjoying, I guess, for a while, so I thought maybe I'll rejuvenate myself and then start all over again. I'm in no hurry to die.”

Satish Shah had an intuition about his death

In an interview with PTI, JD Majethia revealed that Satish Shah had spoken to Ratna Pathak Shah, who played his on-screen wife in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, just two hours before he passed away. Not only this, Satish Shah even talked with Aatish Kapadia at 11 in the morning on October 25, 2025. He was quoted as saying:

"I couldn’t believe it because he had a chat with Aatish Kapadia at 11 am. He had a chat with Ratna ji at 12:57 pm. And after two hours, we got to know he is no more. The day before yesterday, we were supposed to meet. I was right below his house, but he said he was too tired to meet. I’m about to retire. I told him my family also wanted to meet him. Bohot pyaar karte the betiyon se, very close to my wife."

JD Majethia further shared that Satish Shah had spoken to everyone on the phone and told them he was feeling well. It looks as if he had a hint that it was the last few moments of his life.

Satish Shah’s final moments

Satish Shah's manager, Ramesh Kadatala, revealed details of his final moments in an interaction with the ANI. He revealed that Satish Shah was having lunch at 2 or 2:45 pm. He collapsed after taking the first bite of the food. The ambulance took half an hour to reach them. After reaching the hospital, the doctor declared him dead.
