Grieving Rupali Ganguly Along With 'Sarabhai' Team Sing Title Track Of Show At Satish Shah's Funeral

Satish Shah passed away at the age of 74 due to a kidney complication. The veteran actor underwent a kidney transplant earlier in June 2025. He was famously known for his role as 'Indravadan Sarabhai', who was madly in love in real life. According to the people who know him, Satish Shah lived his life like the character of the show. And the team of the OG show made sure to give him a cheerful goodbye.

A video from Satish Shah's funeral surfaced online. In the clip, Sumeet Raghavan, JD Majethia, and Rupali Ganguly were seen singing the title track of Sarabhai vs Sarabhai. However, Rupali couldn't believe it and was left teary-eyed. JD was seen saying that we should give him a happy bye. 

Satish Shah's manager, Ramesh Kadatala shared details of his final moments in an interaction with the ANI. He revealed that Satish Shah was having lunch at 2 or 2:45 pm. He collapsed after taking the first bite of the food. The ambulance took half an hour to reach them. After reaching the hospital, the doctor declared him dead. He shared:

"Kal lunch karte samaye hua tha. Vo khana khate ek niwala khaya fir collapse hua. Kuch half an hour laga ambulance lane mein.. Hospital jaane par declare kra doctor ne."

Satish Shah's neighbour, Anup, revealed that when Ramesh reached them for help, they did their best to save him. He revealed how Satish had a big heart, and everyone came running to his help during his last moments. Anup revealed that Satish underwent a kidney transplant in June in Kolkata, West Bengal. He was healthy after the transplant and got a little urine infection, which was taken under control with medications.

For the unversed, Satish Shah underwent a kidney transplant earlier this year to take care of his ailing wife, Madhu. Actor and filmmaker, Sachin Pilgaonkar, in a media interaction, revealed that Satish Shah underwent a kidney transplant to extend his wife's life. He added that his wife is also not well as she has been suffering from Alzheimer's. The 74-year-old actor had been on dialysis. Sachin was quoted as saying:

"He got a kidney transplant only to extend his wife’s life. Unfortunately, even Madhu isn’t well. She has Alzheimer’s. This year, Satish got his kidney transplanted. He wanted to extend his life so that he could take care of Madhu. He was on dialysis. Earlier, he underwent a bypass surgery, which was successful."

Satish Shah received a lot of acclaim and accolades for his character 'Indravadan Sarabhai' on the comedy show. He was also loved in films such as Main Hoon Na, Hum Saath Saath Hain, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, Judwaa, Hero No. 1, and many more. Satish made many laugh with his presence on TV since the 1980s when private channels were not in the picture, and Doordarshan was the prime source of entertainment.
