Satish Shah's Wife, Madhu Has Alzheimer, Late Actor Underwent Kidney Transplant To Take Care Of Her

Veteran actor, Satish Shah was known for his famous roles in the hit comedy show Sarabhai vs Sarabhai and the Bollywood film Main Hoon Na. He passed aways on October 25, 2025. The actor was rushed to the Hinduja hospital after he suffered kidney failure. However, not many know that his wife, Madhu, has been suffering from Alzheimer's.

Satish Shah underwent a kidney transplant to take care of his ailing wife at the age of 74

Satish Shah, at the age of 74, underwent a kidney transplant earlier this year to take care of his ailing wife, Madhu. Actor and filmmaker, Sachin Pilgaonkar, in a media interaction, revealed that Satish Shah underwent a kidney transplant to extend his wife's life. He added that his wife is also not well as she has been suffering from Alzheimer's. The 74-year-old actor was on dialysis. Sachin was quoted as saying:

"He got a kidney transplant only to extend his wife’s life. Unfortunately, even Madhu isn’t well. She has Alzheimer’s. This year, Satish got his kidney transplanted. He wanted to extend his life so that he could take care of Madhu. He was on dialysis. Earlier, he underwent a bypass surgery, which was successful."

The actor also revealed that his wife, Supriya, visited the late actor three days before his death. Satish Shah played some music and Supriya danced with his wife, Madhu, who recalled how she would dance on cha-cha-cha. Sachin also revealed that he received a text from Satish Shah at 12:56 p.m., just a few hours before his sudden death. He said:

"Satish and I would keep exchanging texts. In fact, I received a message from him at 12:56 pm today, which means he was absolutely fine even at that time. That I’m in shock is an understatement."

For the unversed, Satish Shah and his wife, Madhu, chose not to have any children and focus on their relationship and companionship. Their relationship was built on mutual respect and quiet understanding. With Satish Shah gone, his ailing wife, Madhu is left alone.

Satish Shah's death

As per Hinduja Hospital's statement, the hospital received an emergency call regarding Satish Shah's health. An ambulance was sent on an immediate basis to his residence, where he was found unresponsive. He was even given CPR in the abumblance. Despite the hospital's best effort, he couldn't make it. The statement can be read as:

"We are deeply saddened by the passing of veteran actor Mr Satish Shah. Earlier today, the hospital received an emergency call regarding Mr Shah's health. An ambulance with a medical team was immediately sent to his residence, where he was found to be unresponsive. CPR was started in the ambulance and continued on arrival at P.D. Hinduja Hospital and Medical Research Centre. Despite the best efforts of our medical team, Mr Shah could not be revived."

Satish Shah received a lot of acclaim and accolades for his character 'Indravadan Sarabhai' on the comedy show. He was also loved in films such as Main Hoon Na, Hum Saath Saath Hain, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, Judwaa, Hero No. 1, and many more. Satish made many laugh with his presence on TV since the 1980s when private channels were not in the picture, and Doordarshan was the prime source of entertainment.
