Savannah Guthrie's Mom, Nancy Guthrie Was Possibly Kidnapped Or Abducted At Night, 'She Was Asleep'

Famous journalist and co-host of the Today Show, Savannah Guthrie, has been making headlines for a personal challenge she recently faced. She was not seen on the Today Show on February 1, 2026, and it was her co-anchor, Craig Melvin, who, during the broadcast, revealed that Savannah's mom, Nancy Guthrie, an author, was missing. It was on January 31, 2026, when Nancy Guthrie was last seen at her home outside Tucson. Now, the police have revealed that Nancy, a 'vulnerable adult', was taken from bed against her will. Here's what has been revealed by the police about Nancy Guthrie's missing case.

Savannah Guthrie's mom, Nancy Guthrie, was possibly kidnapped or abducted

Savannah's mom, Nancy Guthrie is 84 years old, and she was last seen at her home on January 31, 2026. Two days after that, her home was being investigated more as a crime scene rather than a search mission. In a statement shared with PEOPLE, it was revealed by Pima County Sheriff Nanos that they believe that a crime has been committed.

In an interview with PEOPLE, Sheriff revealed that it was possibly a kidnapping or abduction, and Nancy was taken from her home in the middle of the night against her will. As per the sheriff, who in the same statement shared that someone might have entered the house and just taken her out, against her will. As per him, Nancy's physical mobility was quite low, while it was highly unlikely that she wandered off. Sheriff could be quoted as saying:

"At this point, investigators believe she was taken from the home against her will, possibly in the middle of the night. Taken against her will includes possible kidnapping or abduction. We have an 84-year-old woman who went to bed Saturday night and come Sunday morning, she's gone. She is really just as sharp as a tack. And that too is concerning that here you have this lady who's got all her wits about her, she knows what's going on. So yeah, somebody came into that home, and I believe took her out there without her permission. It was against her will."
