It was on January 31, 2026, when she was last seen at her home, and following this, a missing persons report was lodged about Nancy. The police revealed that it's possible that Nancy Guthrie has been kidnapped or abducted. The investigation has been going on currently, and it has also revealed by the authorities that Nancy was taken against her will when she was asleep. The sheriff recently shared new information about Nancy Guthrie's missing case.

Pima County Sheriff, Chris Nanos sat for an interview with Us Weekly, wherein he revealed that it was Savannah Guthrie's elder sister, Annie Guthrie, who last saw the 84-year-old author. As per the sheriff, the family had their dinner around 9:30-9:45 at night, so the authorities now have a starting point.

As per the sheriff, Annie had the last interaction with her mom, and the former didn't raise any red flags about the missing one's behaviour during that time. Savannah also didn't raise any health concerns for her mother prior to her disappearance. The family had no idea about Nancy's missing till 11 in the morning the next day. The sheriff has also revealed that Nancy was asleep when she was taken out of her home, against her will. The sheriff said:

"Nancy’s family members weren’t alerted to her [missing] until about 11 in the morning, officials are investigating a timeline “anywhere from 9:30 p.m. to 11 [a.m.]. This is very concerning to us. We don’t typically get the sheriff out at a scene like this. But it’s very concerning what we’re learning from the house. And so we’ll just continue. The detective’s homicide team is out right now looking at the scene as well.”

On the other hand, it was also revealed by the authorities that usually the sheriff doesn't join such cases, but Nancy Guthrie's case is so concerning that he had to join. Nancy didn't have any cognitive issues, but she is not of good physical health, and so, naturally, that’s a great concern, as shared by the sheriff. An investigation is underway, and the homicide team has been launched to explore other possible angles. Hoping that Nancy is in a safe condition, the sheriff said:

"We’ve pretty much just thrown everything at this that we can. Nancy is not of good physical health, and so naturally that’s a great concern. Nancy has no cognitive issues at all. She’s very alert, she’s of good, sound mind. She is not in good physical health and I hope we find her safe and sound, but we can’t ignore what’s in front of us."
