Sayantani Ghosh Shares Her First 'Poila Boishakh' Plans Post Wedding, Says Will Flaunt 'Sankha-Pola'

April 15 is celebrated as Poila Boishakh, which marks the Bengali new year. And for the television actress, Sayantani Ghosh this new year is more special as she will be celebrating her first Poila Boishakh post marriage with Anugrah Tiwari. Sayantani belongs to a Bengali family where food is one of the most prioritised things in life, whereas her husband, Anugrah finds food to be just for survival. 

For the unversed, Sayantani and Anugrah had tied the knot in December 2021. Sayantani and Anugrah had met each other through a common friend who had acted as a Cupid between them as he had seen a possible romance to get brewed. And as soon as the duo had met each other, there was no looking back.

In a recent interview with the Hindustan Times, Sayantani Ghosh opened up about her plans to celebrate her first Poila Boishakh with hubby, Anugrah and her parents. Talking about the same, the Naagin actress said:

 “My parents are here in Mumbai from Kolkata. My brother also got married last year June so this is his first Poila Boishakh after marriage as well. Now that we have Maa and Baba, it will be complete family reunion. We plan to go to Kaali madir that is something we always do. I will keep that trend going. In the evening we have a group of Bengali friends and we are planning to catch up and wear new clothes, that goes without saying."

Further going into the conversation, when Sayantani was asked whether Anugrah is familiar with Poila Boishakh's rituals and shenanigans. To which the actress answered that Anugrah knows the drill as they have been together for a long time. However, this is their first Poila Boishakh as a married couple which makes it more special for both of them.

Sayantani further added that food is one of the most important parts of the Bengali New Year. But, her husband, Anugrah is not a foodie like her. But she revealed that she cannot wait to gorge on those delicacies, and said:

“Anugrah is not really a foodie like I am. Being a Bengali we eat a lot on our festivals. But he is not like he has to have paayesh and sondesh. He tastes everything, but he does not get excited about food as much as I do. Also he is a vegetarian, food is functional for him.”

Concluding the conversation, Sayantani Ghosh talked about how she misses Kolkata's flavour of Bengali's New Year in Mumbai. However, she even mentioned that she will make sure to dress up like a perfect Bengali newlywedded bride and would start with new hope and prosperity. She said:

“I make sure I wear a saree. This time I will also wear my shakha and pola (white and red bangles that are worn by married women) and sindoor. I definitely want to start the year with a new hope. It is a new beginning, new year. This year I will seek blessing for my married life.”
