The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives season 3 is here, and the drama is fierier than ever. From cheating scandals to love triangles and more the latest season has been a good dose of entertainment. However, the lives of Mormon MomTokers weren't always as dramatic. Before gaining fame through TikTok and then scoring the reality series, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, they all had ordinary jobs. Here's a look at that.
Before joining Dancing With The Stars Season 34 and making a name through the Hulu series Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Jen Affleck was a content creator. She started posting videos showcasing her lifestyle and motherhood journey to support her family while her husband, Zac Affleck, was in medical school. However, even before TikTok, Jen was a wedding videographer and had a business named Jen Affleck Films. She then used her cinematography skills to create MomTok content.

Whitney had aspired to be a dancer and had also pursued a degree in the subject. However, according to a Vulture report, she began working at a plastic surgeon's office. But recently, she got the opportunity to dance professionally for an audience as a participant in Dancing With The Stars Season 34 alongside Jen. Talking to TV Insider about both of them participating in the same show again, Whitney shared:
“I didn’t sign up just to let Jen out-cha-cha me on national television! Truthfully, having her here pushes me to bring my A-game, and I know she feels the same. We both want to crush it, and there’s something about dancing next to someone you know that makes you work a little harder. We’re definitely going to push each other, but we’ll also be each other’s biggest cheerleaders.”
Jessi launched her company in 2016, which specialises in hair. Known as JZ Styles, she even trademarked the phrase 'Utah curls'. Her hair extensions and curls have been a highlight of the show, with fans noting how good it looks. Unlike the other Mormon Moms of the show, Jessi has continued her business alongside her reality star career. Her company has expanded to sell hair care products as well. Talking about how her brand popped off after the show, Jessi shared with People:

"I've been the Utah curl queen — just not publicly. It was crazy, when the show came out and it just popped off — the Utah hair, the extensions — I wasn't expecting that because it wasn't part of the storyline, just something people picked up on."

Before becoming a social media influencer, Mayci Neeley had worked a job, handling communications and social media. She even worked for Goldman Sachs as a social media specialist. After rising to fame through her TikToks, Mayci also launched a natal nutrition company called Babymama. Additionally, Mayci became an author in 2025 with her memoir, Told You So.

Layla Taylor moved to Utah from Arizona after high school. There, she took admission into a dental assisting school and also made a living by working as a nanny. After meeting and tying the knot with her ex-husband, Layla started making content post becoming a mother. Even as a single mother of two, Layla's source of income has been content creation and the Hulu series. In an interview with Teen Vogue, Layla had shared:
“I wouldn’t have survived, honestly, if it wasn’t for MomTok. It was just a way for moms to have fun and have an outlet outside of motherhood. Because I feel like when you do become a mom, you lose yourself a little bit.”
