Shah Rukh Khan’s son, Aryan Khan, was arrested in the Mumbai cruise drug case on the night of October 2, 2021. Since then, his star parents have been trying their best to get him out of the custody of the Narcotics Control Bureau. However, despite various attempts, his bail has been rejected and denied multiple times. It was 20 days after his arrest that his father, Shah Rukh Khan, had visited him and here is what happened in their meeting.
On the morning of October 21, 2021, Shah Rukh Khan was spotted visiting his son, Aryan Khan, in the Arthur road jail for the first time. Shah Rukh was previously connecting with his son through video calls and his visit to the jail had made the nation go berserk. Soon after, he was spotted leaving the jail after meeting with his son during these testing times.
According to a report in India Today, Shah Rukh Khan got around 18 minutes with his son, Aryan Khan and the father-son duo interacted with each other through the intercom in the presence of jail authorities. It was also reported that Aryan was emotional during the meeting. For the unversed, on October 20, 2021, a special NDPS court had rejected Aryan’s bail, and soon his legal team had moved to the Bombay High Court.
According to a journalist, Faye D’souza, the reason for the delay in Aryan Khan’s bail is because of his WhatsApp chats. The journalist had quoted its source as “Khan was not found with any drugs in his possession but the NCB argued that they have access to WhatsApp chats that suggest he was regular user, overseas. Including a chat that said “Let’s have a blast” which the NCB interprets as intention to consume drugs.”
According to the reports by ANI, on October 15, 2021, Aryan had got a chance to talk to his parents, Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan, on a video call. They had an elaborate discussion about the condition of the prison where he was taken. Aryan had spoken to them for almost ten minutes and broke down amid the conversation while Shah Rukh and Gauri had tried to console him on the video call.
Aryan Khan was provided with a mobile phone by the jail authorities from which he had dialled his mother, Gauri Khan’s number. This supervised call was in line with a High Court order which states that the prisoners are allowed a video call with their families twice a week, as physical meetings are restricted due to the ongoing pandemic.
Earlier, on October 11, 2021, Aryan Khan had received a money order worth Rs. 4,500 from his home, so that he could order food and other items during his stay at the jail. Moreover, the Superintendent of the Arthur Road jail, Nitin Waychal, had remarked that Aryan is being given jail food and no home or outside food will be served to him until a court order is passed.
Aryan Khan’s bail plea will be next heard on October 26, 2021, by the Bombay High Court.
