The connection between the Hindi film industry and the underworld has not been hidden from anyone. In the 90s, the underworld had a big command over Bollywood and even the actors were compelled to work on their orders. However, Shah Rukh Khan, being the Badshah of Bollywood, never bowed down against the power of the underworld, even when they were at their peak. Well, this revelation has been made by filmmaker, Sanjay Gupta as he heaped praises on the superstar for his performance in the film, Jawan. For the unversed, SRK has been bagging immense success for his recently released film, Jawan, which has already crossed a mark of Rs. 200 crore at the box office.
Shah Rukh Khan, with his film, Jawan has stood up to the wrongdoers in the country. And being impressed by his power-packed performance, filmmaker, Sanjay Gupta penned a heartfelt note for the actor. Taking to his X handle (previously known as Twitter) on September 9, 2023, the filmmaker tweeted how the film, Jawan took him back to the 90s, when SRK stood up to the underworld. In his tweet, Sanjay mentioned that once, Shah Rukh had told the underworld people that they could kill him, but he would never bowed in front of them. His tweet can be read as:

"I saw JAWAN. I feel compelled to share this. Back in the 90's when the underworld bullying of the film stars was at its peak @iamsrk was THE ONLY star who never gave in. "Goli marni hai mar do, par tumhaare liye kaam nahin karoonga. Main Pathan hoon." He said. He's the same today."

Soon after Sanjay tweeted, netizens flooded the reply section with their witty reactions. While one of the internet users commented, "History knows the likes of Salman kneel in front of the underworld. SRK has always been fearless and the biggest outsider in Bollywood history," another one commented, "Islye sameer wankhede se negotiate kr rha tha." One more X user commented, "A sharpshooter was hired by gangster Abu Salem to shoot SRK.. Still SRK didn't fear and calmy replied to Salem, 'I don't tell you who to shoot, so don't tell me which film to do.' #ShahRukhKhan: The REAL LIFE HERO.."

Earlier, Shah Rukh Khan had opened up about the reason behind doing action films in a video which the makers of Jawan dropped. In the video, SRK could be seen answering some interesting questions related to his film. When asked why he chose to do action films, King Khan revealed that he does this to impress his kids. Elaborating more about it, Shah Rukh Khan said:
"One day my elder son and my daughter told me that I will have to do films which are cool for the youngest, Abram. I think the only cool thing he likes is all these anime and action films. I decided to be a superhero. Then I thought I did not look good in spandex. I got into bandages. That’s why this action film. Honestly, I do action films because my kids get very impressed that I have some cool things, six-pack abs. There is no other reason I should do action films."

On September 3, 2023, Shah Rukh hosted #AskSRK sessions on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter). During the session, one of his fans asked him about AbRam's favourite song from his film, Jawan. To this, the actor said:
"There’s a beautiful Lori in the film. Otherwise my favourite is Chaleya…and the film version of Not Ramaiyya VastaVaiya #Jawan."
