‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai Anjali, Tum Nahi Samjhogi’, ‘Hum Ek Baar Jeete Hain, Ek Baar Marte Hain, Shaadi Bhi Ek Baar Hoti Hain, Aur Pyaar… Pyaar Bhi Ek Hi Baar Hota Hain’, ‘Tussi Ja Rahe Ho? Tussi Na Jao’, ‘Pyaar Dosti Hai, Agar Wo Meri Sabse Achi Dost Nahi Ban Sakti, Toh Main Usse Kabhi Pyaar Kar Hi Nahi Sakta’ – 21 years of Dharma Productions film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, which was a bittersweet love triangle between Rahul Khanna (Shah Rukh Khan), Anjali Sharma (Kajol) and Tina Malhotra (Rani Mukerji). We can never get enough of K2H2, the dialogues of the film and the songs. Every 90s kid grew up watching this film and every once in a while, this is our go-to comfort movie that we love watching on OTT. The who’s who of B-town gathered under one roof for Amritpal Singh Bindra’s birthday bash which was a 90s themed party and it made every 90s kid relive the era like how! From Shweta Bachchan Nanda and Sidharth Malhotra twinning in Amitabh Bachchan’s Jumma Chumma De De look, Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi reminding us of Raj and Simran from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge to Janhvi Kapoor recreating her mother, Sridevi’s Chandni look, every celeb made it difficult for us to choose the best one from the night!

But as difficult as it was, we still think that we have a winner from this 90s-themed bash. The star-wife-turned-designer, Gauri Khan made heads turn by recreating Tina Malhotra from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and we just can’t get over how stunning she had looked channelling her inner Tina. Karan Johar and Kajal Anand recreated Rahul Khanna and Anjali Sharma. Wondering how Shah Rukh Khan reacted to this recreation of the trio? Karan revealed the same through his Instagram post, which he captioned as “So BREAKING NEWS! We attended our dear friends @bindraamritpal’s 90’s BOLLYWOOD theme bash! So KKHH it was for us! @gaurikhan channelled her inner TINA @putlu channelled ANJALI and me ofcourse had to be RAHUL!!! Don’t miss the most embarrassed @iamsrk photobombing our poster recreation! @kajol #rani.”

At the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, Karan Johar had revealed the ideal star cast for the remake of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. He had stated, “On my wishlist would be Ranveer Singh as Rahul. He has that mad intensity as Shah Rukh Khan. Alia Bhatt as Anjali. She has the spunk and Janhvi Kapoor as Tina because she has the poise and balance of the part. I was ecstatic to met SRK. Kajol and he had promised that they will do my first film. So I remembering going to meet him and I had no script whatsoever. I only had a scene in my mind. Which I narrated to him. And he bought into my bullshit. I told him if you like this one scene then I will narrate the entire film to you, which was completely a lie. Tabu, Urmila, Aishwarya turned me down and Ash was the only one who was polite to call me back. It took months to cast for Rani’s part after Aditya Chopra recommended me her name.” (Also Read: Mohena Kumari Singh Aces Her Rajputi Poshak At A Wedding And Is No Less Than A Sight To Behold)
Did you know Karan Johar’s mother, Hiroo Johar and his friends, Farah Khan and Manish Malhotra made cameos in the film? Speaking of their cameos going unnoticed, Karan Johar had shared in an interview with the Film Companion, “The sequence begins with my mother walking down the stairs. She was in a green and blue salwaar kameez. She looked like she was working for Air India for some reason on that day. If you carefully see the crowd of “students”, Manish Malhotra and Farah Khan are two of the students sitting on the stairs. Manish has the strangest haircut that I’ve ever seen him in.”
Spilling a secret about Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar had revealed, “I have to give you a little bit of trivia on Shah Rukh Khan. Shah Rukh Khan is possibly the finest actor I have ever worked with and is considered one of our leading movie stars and best actors. But ask him to laugh in a scene, he can’t do it. He finds it very difficult to laugh naturally on scene. So, we had many takes of just trying to make Shah Rukh laugh. It gets so exhausting that he laughs just out of exhaustion. Here he is banging the wall out of frustration because he just doesn’t know how to laugh with complete conviction.”
It was on December 9, 2019, when the A-listers of B-town had gathered under one roof at The St. Regis Mumbai for Vogue India’s first-ever Power List 2019 awards ceremony in association with Nykaa Fashion. For the event, Gauri Khan’s fusion outfit i.e., a black sari gown by designer Amit Aggarwal was a flawless pick seamlessly tied in with the theme of the evening, ‘India-Modern’. Her hubby, Shah Rukh Khan had complemented her perfectly in a black suit and together, they had looked nothing less than a king and his queen! Just like a perfect gentleman he is, while entering the venue, Shah Rukh had picked his wife’s outfit’s train and had held it while walking to avoid it from getting spoilt. All we can do is thank the 24-year-old Karan Johar for writing and making this ‘silly’ film!
