Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan had tied the knot on October 25, 1991 and had become the ‘IT’ couple of the town. Shah Rukh is true blue ‘King of Romance’ in both, his personal and professional life. He had replied saying that he is not comfortable while doing romantic scenes when people are around and that is one of the reasons why he insists on shooting such scenes in outdoor locations. In an old interview, where Shah Rukh and Gauri had graced the talk show, Rendezvous With Simi Garewal in the year 1997, the couple had talked about the initial days of their relationship. When Gauri was asked whether Shah Rukh has always been protective, she had replied that his protectiveness was more of possessiveness. She had stated, “It was possessiveness. It has turned to protectiveness. He was disgustingly possessive, he was sick. He wouldn’t let me wear a white shirt because he thought that it was transparent. It was a kink in the mind, I think.”
Shah Rukh had agreed that it was not right on his part to be so possessive about her and had stated that he was quite insecure about their relationship. He had further revealed that it was his lack of ownership on Gauri which had made him overprotective towards her. He had also agreed that in order to control her and prove his ownership on her, he had turned very cheap. When asked how Gauri had dealt with such a possessive lover, she had stated, “I kicked him and left him for very long. He had to learn because I said, ‘Okay, bye. At an award show which Vicky Kaushal was hosting, he had shown SRK a throwback picture of himself with Gauri Khan and had asked him about the picture. Shah Rukh Khan had revealed, “This is my favourite picture...When I got married, I was very poor while Gauri was middle-class, well-to-do. So like how usually everyone does, I had promised her that after we get married, 'I'll take you to Paris and show you the Eiffel Tower'. Shah Rukh Khan had further revealed that he took Gauri Khan to Darjeeling for honeymoon but had tricked her into believing that they were going to Paris. The Zero actor had further added, “Finally, we were heading to Darjeeling to shoot a song for Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman. And I felt that considering even Gauri hasn't travelled abroad, she wouldn't know much, so main usko Paris bolke Darjeeling le gaya.
