Shah Rukh Khan is one of the indomitable actors of Bollywood at the moment. The talented superstar has never failed to impress his fans with his charismatic personality, versatile performances, humble nature and whatnot. Despite being an outsider to the film industry, SRK has made his way to lead the competitive field and even enjoys great friendships with innumerable colleagues of his, including juniors, seniors and contemporaries.
Filmmaker, Karan Johar, in his autobiography, An Unsuitable Boy revealed an unheard anecdote about the superstar, Shah Rukh Khan, that simply proves his humble nature and having a personality with zero airs of being a top actor. Karan revealed how during the shooting of the song, Na Jaane Mere from the film, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Aditya Chopra and he had hunted down an old costume for Shah Rukh Khan to wear for a particular scene of it, due to budget constraints.

Well, it was none other than the iconic red and white-hued sweater that was worn by Rishi Kapoor in his popular song, Chandni, along with Sridevi. On a closer look at Shah Rukh Khan’s song, Na Jaane Mere in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, audiences can witness the actor wearing that same sweater. Interestingly, SRK wore the same outfit without having any diffidence about being a superstar and wearing second-hand clothes. In fact, the original sweater had to be mended a bit, since it had a hole. Fortunately, SRK’s handsome looks in the sweater became such a hit that such sweaters became a rage back then.
The two mega stars of their respective generations, Shah Rukh Khan and Rishi Kapoor ended up collaborating on the film, Deewana together for the first time. They were paired with Divya Bharti as the only leading female for the film. Previously, through a social media post after Rishi Kapoor’s demise in 2020, SRK had discussed his experience of working with the former in Deewana, who was his first co-star. Shah Rukh Khan remarked how he was conscious of his looks, and revealed the extra pressure he felt due to Rishi Kapoor’s presence. In his words:

“I was insecure about the way I looked and afraid that I was not talented enough. The thought of failing meant nothing though, because even if I failed I would have worked with the greatest actor I knew of - Rishi sahib. On the first day of shoot, he sat for my scene to finish after pack up. Then with that famously radiant smile on his face, he said, "yaar tujhme energy bahut hai! That day in my head I became an actor.”

Back on November 3, 2019, Rishi Kapoor had taken to his Twitter handle (now known as X), and penned a special birthday cum congratulatory note for Shah Rukh Khan. The senior actor reminisced how the latter started off his career with him, and expressed feeling joy on witnessing Shah Rukh attain pinnacles of success thereafter. He had penned:
“For me this is so wonderful. Sharukh in his early years started his career with me in “Deewaana”. And now to see him at his pinnacle is so joyous and commendable.You make India proud, Sharukh. (achcha hua na Gauri ooparwale ne tumhari naheen sunni lol) Belated Birthday.”
