Shahid Kapoor Had Poor Experience In Padmaavat? Netizens Debate If He Dissed SLB Or Ranveer-Deepika

Shahid Kapoor is often regarded as one of the most versatile actors in Bollywood. He began his career with romantic films, gaining popularity over time with memorable performances in films like Kabir Singh, Haider, Badmaash Company, and more that showed his true range as an actor. One such iconic film that Shahid was a part of was Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat. However, it seems that the shooting wasn't such a good experience for Shahid. While tactfully refraining from naming anyone, Shahid had recently been opening up about his less-than-thrilling experience shooting Padmaavat, causing netizens to debate whether it was Sanjay Leela Bhansali or husband-wife duo, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone that rubbed Shahid the wrong way.

Shahid Kapoor says he was made to feel like he was 'lesser' on Padmaavat sets

Shahid Kapoor recently sat for a candid chat with Raj Shamani on the latter's podcast, during which he opened up about a bad experience on one film set. The actor did not name the film, but stated that on the sets for this particular movie, he had been made to feel like he was lesser.

Shahid further stated that the experience happened just before his 2019 film, Kabir Singh, which has led many netizens to believe that he was talking about Padmaavat, which hit theatres in 2019. Shahid can be quoted as saying:

"This happened right before Kabir Singh. I don't want to get into specifics, but I was made to feel like I am lesser, as an artist, as a star, as an individual. I was put in a situation where I was made to feel like I am lesser. And I would never accept that. And I fought it because I am a survivor. Through my journey of 21 years, I have learned that I am a survivor and I can get out of such difficult situations."

Shahid Kapoor says he's very particular about the kind of people he works with after doing a certain film

While Shahid Kapoor's previous comments already had netizens debating whether he was shading Sanjay Leela Bhansali or Deepika and Ranveer, further fuel was added to the fire when an old interview of the actor resurfaced. In the clip, Shahid was seen talking about how 'one specific film' taught him to be careful about the kind of people he worked with.

In Shahid's opinion, it was far more important to work with people based on their personalities than their professional accomplishments. He can be quoted as saying:

"What are the kind of people you want to work with, not just in term of their professional accomplishments or their creative potential, but how are they as people. It matters a lot to me now. Do I want to spend one year with this energy or this vibe or this discipline of person or this personality in general because I'll have to deal with it for a year. And if that is going to be more negative than positive for me in the long term, because in a year, you can get impacted and that can create a chain reaction in you as a person."

Netizens debate whether Shahid Kapoor's comments are about Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh or Sanjay Leela Bhansali

While netizens were pretty sure that the film Shahid wasn't naming was Padmaavat, they were in two minds about whether his digs were aimed at director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali or co-stars, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone. One user penned, "It's more on SLB than Ranveer or Deepika. SLB should have handled it all better. Shahid on paper was playing a weak character which didn't have any gravitas tbh," while another wrote, "Shame on Ranveer and Deepika for making Shahid feel this way!" Some also lashed out at Shahid's 'insecurity.'
