Bollywood actor, Shahid Kapoor often hit the headlines for his link-ups with multiple actresses back then. The actor was once in a serious relationship with Kareena Kapoor, and post their breakup, he was linked to many actresses, including Amrita Rao. The rumours about Shahid and Amrita's alleged relationship were all over the internet, but the duo rarely addressed them. However, there was one rumour about Shahid and Amrita that blew his mind and made him react.
Once in an old interview, Shahid Kapoor addressed the rumours about his and Amrita Rao's relationship and revealed that the speculations had reached to the extent that people started making up things on their own. Recalling one such fake report, Shahid shared that once he went to see a film with his best friend and his family at night and added:
“After me and Kareena broke up, there was a rumour that me and Amrita (Rao) are now suddenly seeing each other. Poor thing, we’ve known each other for four years (at the time) and now, randomly, suddenly we are linked up. There was this one rumour where… what happened was I went to see a film and my best friend was with me. He and my family, we went to a multiplex nearby and we walked out from there."

Shahid further added that when they were about to leave the multiplex, the manager approached them and told him that 20 camerapersons were waiting outside to cover him. The actor was shocked to hear this as it was 2 in the morning, so he asked everyone to check if something had happened. However, Shahid then came out of the hall and posed for the paps, but they didn't ask him anything. In his words:
“The manager came to us — and I have been going there forever and nobody troubles us and we have our privacy — he was like, ’20 cameras standing outside and they want to cover you.’ It was 2 in the morning so I was really surprised. I was like did something happen? What happened? Why are they here? I come here every week and (this is not common). They followed us, we sat in our car, we drove off and we were discussing the whole way that did anybody get what was happening because they didn’t ask me any questions."
However, Shahid shared that two days later, someone falsely claimed that he and Amrita went to see a movie together and she met and bonded with his family. The actor added that he assumed that Amrita was there to see another film. But when he spoke to her on the phone the next day, she informed him that she was not even in town. Expressing his disbelief over the fake reporting, Shahid said:
“Two days later comes the news that me and Amrita have gone to see a film and she’s come to see my family and she’s bonded with my father. I assumed that Amrita was there and was seeing another film. When I spoke to her on the phone the following day, she informed me that she is not even in town. Things like that, when you read stuff like that I (wonder) where do you make this stuff up from?"

After Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor's shocking breakup, people were curious to find out the reason behind the same. At that time, reports were rife that Amrita Rao was the cause of Shahid and Bebo's parting ways. Once in an interview with the ETimes, Amrita reacted to the speculations of her closeness with Shahid and rubbished the rumours for once and all. She said:
"It was speculated that Kareena and Shahid broke up because of me, but I always maintained silence because I knew that time had its own way of revealing the truth and it has, today. And, no. Shahid and I almost started our careers together. We shared great working energy. And much as people would like to believe, I would qualify him more a co-star than a friend."
Fast forward to today, Shahid Kapoor has been married to Mira Rajput for eight years, and they are blessed with two children, Misha Kapoor and Zain Kapoor.
