Shahid Kapoor Recalls Being Bullied In School, Responded With 'Tu Janta Nahi Main Kaun Hu'

The sweet chocolate boy of Bollywood, Shahid Kapoor has turned into an angry lover boy since his rugged appearance in the popular movie, Kabir Singh. He was born to the actor, Pankaj Kapur and his first wife, Neliima Azeem. However, differences between the couple had led to a separation and Shahid’s father had left them when he was a three-year-old kid. Now in an interview with a media portal, Shahid Kapoor opened up about the bullies that he had to face in his school, his tight budgeting plans to eat something good and his ‘fun’ college life.

The Jersey actor had initially completed his schooling in Delhi at Gyan Bharati School. And at the age of 10, he had shifted his base to Mumbai and had gone to Rajhans Vidhyalaya. Recalling his bullying experience, Shahid also shared how he used to say ‘Tu Janta Nahi Main Kaun Hu’ and had never ‘step down or step back.’

In a candid conversation with Curly Tales, Shahid revealed that he had ‘hated’ his school in Mumbai. He further mentioned how his fellow classmates used to mistreat him. However, Shahid has some wonderful memories from his old Delhi school to cherish forever. He stepped down memory lane and shared that he had ‘a lot of fun’ during his college days at Mumbai’s Mithibai college. In his words:

"I hated my school in Bombay, I was bullied and treated very badly. The teachers were also not very nice to me. Sorry but that is true. I loved my school in Delhi because I was there from Jr KG and I had a lot of friends. So, I've amazing memories in Delhi and not very pleasant memories of schooling in Bombay. My college in Bombay was really nice, had a lot of fun, I was in Mithibai College, but schooling was not so nice."

In the same interview, when Shahid Kapoor was asked about the difference between students of Delhi and Mumbai, he mentioned that he was treated as an outsider and was called ‘dilli ka ladka’. Sharing how he used to stand up for himself, he said:

"There's no difference. I feel when children join school, when a new kid comes in the middle and all the other kids are there from a younger age, he kind of becomes an outsider. And since I was from Delhi, I was 'dilli ka ladka', I was not one to step down or step back so whenever I'd be told 'Tu hat ja (Go away)' I'd be like 'Tu kya samajhta hai? Main kyun hatu (What do you think? Why should I go)?'... 'Tu jaanta nahi main kaun hun (You don't know who am I)', it was more like that."

Further going into the interview, the actor also mentioned that he used to do budgeting during his college days. He shared that on days when he would have vada pav and cold drinks as snacks it would cost him Rs.15, so he had to travel home by bus. However, on days when he would be very tired, he would choose to take a rickshaw from Mithibai college to his house and ditch ‘eating anything nice’. Shahid can be quoted as saying:

“For me it was, either I have to go home by bus so then I can spend 15 rs on Vada pav of Rs. 5 and energy drink of Rs. 10 because I had a total of Rs. 20 or something. But on the days when I was like really tired then I would go in a rickshaw which costs Rs.16 from my college to my house. So that day I would not get to eat anything nice. It was always like a flip and choose.”
