Shahid Kapoor's Stepmother, Supriya Pathak Opens Up About Their Bond, 'He Is An Integral Part Of..'

Shahid Kapoor is a renowned actor in the Hindi film industry. He is the son of actors, Pankaj Kapoor and Neelima Azeem, who came into the spotlight with his debut in the movie, Isha Vishq, released back in 2003. Since the media and fans have kept a keen eye on the actor's personal and professional life, everyone knows that the actor has grown up in complex family dynamics as his parents parted ways when he was a small child and remarried. However, he has managed to gracefully maintain a cordial bond with everyone. In a recent interview, Pankaj Kapur's wife and Shahid Kapoor's stepmother, Supriya Pathak, opened up about her bond with the actor. 

Supriya Pathak reveals her stepson, Shahid Kapoor, was never hostile towards her 

Supriya Pathak recently sat down for a conversation at Filmfare Actors' Roundtable, where she opened up about her bond with her stepson, Shahid Kapoor. She revealed that she met the Jab We Met actor for the first time when he was 6 years old and admits that he was one of the cutest kids she had ever met. Despite marrying Pankaj after he separated from Shahid's mom, he was never hostile towards Supriya. Recalling the same, she said:

"I met Shahid when he was six years old. So, for me, he was the cutest baby I'd seen. He was such a lovely child. He was very warm, and he did not have any defiant reactions towards me, nor did I have them too. So, when we met, we instantly liked each other as people."

Pankaj Kapoor married Supriya four years after he divorced Neelima Azeem in 1988. They became parents to two kids: a daughter, Sanah Kapur and a son, Ruhaan Kapur. Although their family extended, Supriya states that Shahid is the elder brother of her kids and would always remain a significant part of their family. In her words:

"Shahid is their brother. He is their elder brother, bhai! He is an integral part of the family. He is our main anchor."

Supriya Pathak recalls taking a break from acting after embracing motherhood 

In the same conversation, Supriya Pathak shared that she took a planned break after her marriage because she wanted to have kids and look after them. She mentioned that after the birth of her daughter and son, Shahid Kapoor took up the role of a big brother. Recalling how her husband, Pankaj Kapur, gave her the responsibility of his production company when she resumed working, Supriya said:

"He started a production company and wrote, directed, and produced projects, making me the executive producer-- a job I initially knew nothing about but learned over time."

Supriya Pathak is the daughter of actress, Dina Pathak and sister of actress, Ratna Pathak Shah. She began acting under her mother's direction with the revival of the play, Maina Gurjari. The actress was spotted by Shahi Kapoor's wife, Jennifer Kendall, during one of her plays and recommended her for the film, Kalyug in 1981. She has been a part of popular films like Bazaar, Masoom, Mirch Masala, and TV shows like Khichdi and Baa Bahoo Aur Baby, among others.
