A girl is said to make or break a house. A lot of responsibilities lie on the shoulders of a girl when she enters a new house after her wedding. It is not just a new home for her, but the relations and traditions are new too and from there on starts her journey of balancing her mayaka and sasural. Shahid Kapoor’s Delhi-based wife, Mira Rajput Kapoor became the chord balancing the modern dynamics of the Kapoor household and proved herself to be the perfect bahu for the Kapoor khandaan. This time, Mira has wished her father-in-law, Pankaj Kapur on his 67th birthday.
On May 29, 2020, Shahid Kapoor's father, Pankaj Kapur had turned a year older, and to make his birthday special, the doting daughter-in-law, Mira Rajput Kapoor had penned an adorable wish for him. She had taken to her Instagram handle and had posted a monochrome picture of her sasur ji with his wife, Supriya. Alongside it, she had written, "Happy Birthday Dad. Nobody is as cool and as warm as you are In a family of Alphonsos we’re the Safedas! To the bestest ‘Baba’, We love you."
As Pankaj Kapur turned 67 on May 29, 2021, his bahu, Mira Rajput Kapoor took to her IG stories to wish him on his birthday. Mira shared a picture of her father-in-law, smiling his heart out and wrote, “Happy Birthday Dad” followed by a heart and red rose emoticon atop it. Shahid Kapoor also wished his father, Pankaj Kapur on his birthday. He shared a picture with his daddy on his IG handle, where the two can be seen wearing a tracksuit and wrote, "Happy birthday dad."
At the 46th Annual Convocation in the Dasmesh Auditorium of the Guru Nanak Dev University, Pankaj Kapur was honoured with a degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the Faculty of Visual Arts and Performing Arts. Pankaj Kapur’s wife, Supriya Pathak and his children were present to cheer for him as he had received the award. According to 5 Dariya News, Pankaj Kapur had said that in spite of spending a good time in Mumbai, his soul and heart always beats for Punjab and he had also shared his experiences of life with the students. His proud son and daughter-in-law, Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput Kapoor had shared a congratulatory post for Dr Pankaj Kapur.
On August 29, 2020, Mira Rajput Kapoor had indulged in an ‘Ask Me Anything’ session, and had answered a lot of questions from her fans, related to her favourite food, jewellery, motherhood and her life as Mrs Kapoor. But what had caught our attention was when Mira was asked about her favourite Indian dish and her list had included one made by her father-in-law, Pankaj Kapur. When a fan had asked Mira, “What’s your favourite Indian food?” she had replied, “Dal Makhani, Paneer Makhani, Baigan Bharta, Soya Chaap, Gheeya/tori in any form, my mom’s kashiphal, Mom’s parantha, Gujrati Kadhi, Appam and Stew, Spicy Rasam, Poha, My FIL’s Orange Paneer. Anything really… I live to eat.”
We all know Shahid's relationship with his daddy, Pankaj has not always been a pleasant one. In a 2015 interview with the Hindustan Times, Pankaj Kapur had talked about his son and how there was a gap between the two. He had said, "As Shahid said, it is very difficult to explain. For a father, to separate from his son is not easy. It was a huge emotional loss for me [the last time around] and I started living with the hope that there will come a time when we will come close to each other again. And today, it’s a great feeling to sit next to him, see his work or hear him speak and bond with the family. Definitely, yes. I missed him every day, but there were professional constraints. What’s most fortunate is that once he turned 18, Shahid assisted me for a while, so we got to spend a lot of time with each other. Then, we started going on holidays together with the family, so the bonding increased, especially after we shifted to our new house."
Happiest birthday, Pankaj Kapur!
