Shahid Kapoor Reacts To Wife, Mira Prioritising Motherhood Before Career, 'Worked In Her Favour'

In a new interview, Shahid Kapoor discussed his wife, Mira Rajput's decision to have kids before pursuing her career and shared his views on the concept of arranged marriage.

Shahid Kapoor Reacts To Wife, Mira Prioritising Motherhood Before Career, 'Worked In Her Favour'

Shahid Kapoor is undeniably one of the most good-looking, talented and popular actors in the Hindi film fraternity. The actor surprised everyone when he married Mira Rajput in 2015, who came from a world away from glitz and glamour. At the same time, the couple's 13-year-old age gap raised eyebrows, but the couple's bond has continued to be strong despite everything. In a recent interview, Shahid gushed about his pride in his wife, Mira, who chose to have kids first and has now begun working hard on her career. 

Shahid Kapoor admires his wife, Mira's decision to prioritise having kids before career 

Shahid Kapoor and Mira have always been honest with the media about discussing different aspects of their relationship, such as their age difference or division of responsibilities. In an interview with SCREEN, the actor recently revealed that he admires his wife's personality and life choices, such as having kids in her early 20s. The couple welcomed a daughter, Misha, in 2016 and a son, Zain, in 2018 and now Shahid feels more proud as she has begun to focus on her career. In his words: 

"I think Mira has her own personality, and I have mine. Definitely, she has begun to do a lot of things lately. She had made a very strong decision of first having her kids and then chasing her career. And I think that has worked in her favour."

The Jab We Met actor added that since their kids are much older and a little busy with their things, it has given Mira time to focus on her work. For those unaware, Mira Rajput launched her skincare brand, AKind in 2023. Shahid, who supports his wife in all her endeavours, explained: 

"She is building on things and she did do what she thought she wanted to do as a mother, and she dedicated her time. Now, she can slowly feel freer and doing things she wanted to do. I feel prouder and rooting for her."

Shahid Kapoor admits it's his 'turn' to offer support to his wife, Mira 

Since Shahid Kapoor got married, he has been busy with work, and Mira has more actively cared for him and their kids. He admits she has been there for him as a friend and partner, and supports him by every means. However, as she has decided to step up and make her career, Shahid feels it's his turn to take those roles for her. The Udta Punjab actor emphasised that he would be happy to help his wife however she wanted and couldn't feel more proud of her hard work and decisions.

Sooraj Barjatya's Vivah, starring Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao, is one of the most iconic films in Bollywood based on the concept of arranged marriage. So, Shahid, who had an arranged marriage in real life with Mira Rajput, feels that the film was like a practice session for him because a similar situation took place in his life. However, the actor revealed that he used to disagree with the concept of filming for the movie and found it strange or funny. But, after getting married in real life, he understood that it was a reality, and he supported the concept since it worked for him.
