Shahid Kapoor is a well-known actor in Bollywood. He began his career with romantic films, and over time, he has gained popularity as a versatile actor with films like Kabir Singh, Haider, Badmaash Company, and more. But, despite the love, Shahid feels that he has a long way to go in his career. The actor, who is busy promoting his upcoming film, Deva, recently opened up about his struggles to enter Bollywood and how he still feels the need to prove himself in the industry.
Shahid Kapoor's parents worked in the acting industry, but that didn't ease his way into films. In a conversation with Raj Shamani on his podcast, he recently revealed that he gave nearly 250 to 300 auditions before he got to work in his debut film, Ishq Visq. On the other hand, some people start their careers by working with the top directors in the industry. So, he has learnt a lot from that experience.
The Jab We Met Actor explained that he had witnessed the look on people's faces when they thought about whether they should cast him or not. As a result, after gaining popularity, he still feels the need to prove himself in every role, even after completing 21 years in the Hindi film industry. At the same time, Shahid mentioned that people don't respect their privilege, which they should do because he knows how difficult it is to get there. He explained:
"If you don't respect that privilege, you shouldn't be there. That spotlight has to be treated like a temple. It's sacrosanct, it's sacred. You are truly blessed to be standing there."
Shahid Kapoor has worked hard in his career and picked up many learnings on his path to fame. When asked about his key takeaway from his career, the actor mentioned that he has worked on self-discovery. Consequently, his biggest takeaway from those years is that no one is better or worse. Rather, he is his best version, hinting at his growth as an actor. At the same time, he is focused on learning more along the way in the future.
Shahid Kapoor was last seen in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, co-starring Kriti Sanon, and the film was a commercial success. He will be next seen in Deva, directed by Rosshan Andrrews. It also stars Pooja Hegde in a significant role. The actor also has Vishal Bhardwaj's Arjun Ustara in the pipeline. It is reported that Triptii Dimri could play the female lead opposite Shahid, marking their first on-screen collaboration.
