Shailesh Lodha Reveals Why He Left Asit's Show, 'TMKOC': 'Couldn't Tolerate The Way He Spoke To Me'

Shailesh Lodha Reveals Why He Left Asit's Show, 'TMKOC': 'Couldn't Tolerate The Way He Spoke To Me'

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been dominating all the headlines for a long time with all the negative reasons. For the unversed, several actors and actresses from the sitcom have made shocking allegations against the show's makers, especially the producer, Asit Kumarr Modi. One such actor was Shailesh Lodha, who worked for nearly 14 years on the show. However, a month back, Shailesh won the lawsuit that he filed against TMKOC producer, Asit Modi for not clearing his dues. And now, in a recent interview, the actor opened up about why he stepped back from the show.

Shailesh Lodha reveals why he left TMKOC

In an interview with Lallantop, Shailesh Lodha was asked the reason for leaving the popular sitcom, TMKOC. To this, the actor said that he did this due to his self-respect. Talking more about why he left the show, Shailesh stated that in 2022, he was called up to join a stand-up show, Good Night India, on SAB TV as a celebrity guest. Shailesh mentioned that he graced the show as he was happy to be a part of it, as it provided him with his identity as a poet. But Asit Kumarr Modi didn't like it, and a day before the telecast of the show, the producer of TMKOC called Shailesh, and the latter didn't like the way the former was talking. Sharing more details about the same, Shailesh mentioned:

"I shot for it and even recited a poem there. A day before the telecast, Taarak Mehta’s producer called me asking how could I be on that show. And the language that he used was not civil, leaving me infuriated."

Shailesh Lodha reveals Asit Kumarr Modi once called the TMKOC cast his servant

Speaking along the same lines, Shailesh Lodha shared that he even confronted Asit Kumarr Modi about the language he had been using. The actor also stated that Asit Modi once called everyone on the set as his servant. He added that he didn't like the way Asit spoke to him, so he mailed the latter to let him know that he wouldn't be continuing on the show in February 2022. But he continued to go for shoot till April as he knew that the team would need time to wrap things up. Shailesh shared:

"I could not tolerate the way he spoke to me. A show is made by many people coming together and not just one person. I thus mailed him on February 17, 2022, that I would not like to continue with the show."

Further in the interview, Shailesh mentioned that the makers of TMKOC wanted him to sign an agreement paper, according to which he wouldn't be able to speak to the media or post anything about the same on social media. Sharing more details about the same, Shailesh shared:

"Why do I take his permission before going on social media or speaking to the media? These are my basic rights. And why do I do it after I leave the show? The matter was never about money or payment but about how he spoke in an insulting tone. I had to go to the court and the settlement was done."

When Shailesh Lodha won the lawsuit against Asit Kumarr Modi

For the unversed, earlier reports mentioned that Shailesh wasn't paid a huge amount of money by TMKOC producer, Asit. And it was one month back when Shailesh won a lawsuit against the producer. As per a report by The Times Of India, according to the settlement terms, a hefty amount of Rs. 1,05,84,000 was paid to Shailesh Lodha by Asit Kumarr Modi. The report also claimed that earlier this year, Shailesh took the help of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) to help him clear his dues.
