Tamil actress, Shalini rose to fame with her serial, Mullum Malarum and the reality show, Super Mom. Recently, she left the entire internet berserk with her divorce announcement. Going against the trend of elaborate wedding shoots, Shalini created a trend by announcing her divorce and celebrating it with powerful pictures on her social media handle. The actress was dressed in a deep red outfit, and gives out a strong message to the world.
Recently, Shalini took to her social media handle and shared pictures from her divorce photoshoot. In the photos, she was decked up in a red-hued thigh-high slit gown. She kept her look subtle with nude-toned makeup and curly tresses. In the first picture, she was seen tearing off her wedding picture. In another photo, she was seen holding a bottle of wine and a blackboard on which it was written, "I got 99 problems but a husband ain't one."

Shalini was married to a man named Riaz, and together they also have a daughter, whom they have named Riya. Alongside it, Shalini penned a heartfelt note and called herself a 'divorced woman'. She added that it is okay to leave a bad marriage as everyone deserves to be happy. She wrote:
"A Divorced woman’s Message to those who feel voiceless. It’s okay to leave a bad marriage cause You deserve to be happy and never settle for less, take control of your lives and make the changes necessary to create a better future for yourself and your children. DIVORCE is NOT a FAILURE!!! It’s a turning point for you and to led positive changes in your lives. It takes a lot of courage to leave a marriage and stand alone So to all my BRAVE WOMEN out there I dedicate this."

Shalini's bold move of celebrating her divorce with a shoot left netizens divided. While some applauded her move, others made fun of her. One user wrote, "After getting alimony and maintenance, who is not going to be happy?" Another commented, "But the question is How much she got? whatever be the case no one should be this happy about divorce if someone really cares for it this means now she's available to take another family alimony."
According to media reports, Shalini had filed for divorce from her husband on the claims of physical and mental abuse.
