"I’ve always taken care of my workout and diet. So being fit is a big part of who I am. But I kept putting on weight for a year and half and couldn’t understand why. I was constantly trying to look for ways to conceal my weight. I kept getting hot flushes and ended up thinking I was hitting menopause. But my doctor made me undergo a few tests, which showed that it wasn’t that. I chanced upon a video about perimenopause on social media and read some articles on it. When I spoke to my female friends, some of them had the same symptoms and others had more severe ones."

Further, Shamita mentioned that she was at ease when finally she could diagnose the real problem. She mentioned all her anxiousness and confusion were gone when, finally, her medical tests came fine. Then, with the help of her trainer, she lost 3 kgs of weight in two months and shared:
"Once I understood the problem, I felt at ease. Before that it can get overwhelming, since your body is behaving differently but all medical reports show up fine, and this can leave you anxious and confused. My trainer helped me out with the right diet and workout routine. I had put on about 5 kg and it took me two months to lose 3 kg."
In the same conversation, Shamita mentioned how she found support and motivation from her sister, Shilpa Shetty and a few of her friends. Although, she revealed crying on days when her body wasn't feeling right, she mentioned how she found peace after hitting the gym. She also did some blood tests and exercised to regain her confidence. Shamita concluded:
"Speaking with my sister and friends helped me understand perimenopause better. The gym has always been my happy place but there were times when I just didn’t feel like working out. I would cry because my body was not feeling right. It’s important to get the necessary blood tests done and check your vitamin levels. Workouts really helped me. So, hit the gym, be it weight training, cardio, kickboxing or yoga. Exercising helps keep stress levels in check. Just love and accept yourself."
