Shanthi Priya, who began her career as Akshay Kumar's first co-star in 1999, left everyone shocked when she shaved her head back in April 2025. It was a few months ago when Shanthi Priya shared several of her photos, opting for a bald look while paying tribute to her late husband, Siddharth Roy, by wearing his blazer. While people have suggested that she did it to gain attention, Shanthi Priya has recently dismissed these misconceptions about her bald appearance. She sat for an interview with Zoom, during which she shared the real reason for her bold step of going bald.

Shanthi Priya reveals the real reason she opted for a bald look, while clarifying if it was just for attention

Shanthi Priya, while conversing on Zoom, was asked about the reason she opted to go bald. To this, the actress revealed that people told her she opted for the bold look to grab attention only, and argued that if she had to seek attention, there were many other things she could have done rather than experimenting on herself. Shanthi Priya clarified that she didn't do it to gain attention.

Shanthi Priya went on to reveal that every time girls have to highlight their hair, they have to cut it, so she thought, 'Why not go bald this time?' Shanthi Priya mentioned that boys can do whatever they wish to do; thus, when they are allowed to do everything, being a girl, she can do everything she wishes. Shanthi Priya could be quoted as saying:

"Some people told vo attention seek karne ke liye (kiya), there is nothing like that. Attention seek karna ho toh bohot kuch kar sakte hain. Apne aap pe main ye experiment kyu karungi? So, I didn't do that. Every time we do highlights and we cut our hair. I said, Why not (this)? When men can do whatever... they grow hair also. So when they can do anything and everything, then why not (us)? The hair will grow back. (So I thought) let's do it."

In the same interview, Shanthi Priya shared that during her childhood, she used to go bald during summer examinations, and after growing up, she had no idea how she might look with a bald head. Sharing this is one of the reasons that she opted for her bold bald look, Shanthi Priya revealed:

"We used to do it in childhood. When exams got over in the summer, we used to go, do it and come. But after growing up, I never knew how I look in the bald (avatar). I just wanted to recreate myself and I wanted to see how I look."

It was on April 10, 2025, when Shanthi Priya took to her social media handle and shared photos, wherein she flaunted her bald look. She looked pretty in a brown blazer and classy makeup. The actress revealed that by opting for a bald look, she felt pretty good. The actress shared that as women, we are often expected to stay within limitations, thereby being caged.

Thus, while opting for this bald look, Shanthi Priya has set herself free from any limitations. She also revealed that she wished to break the beauty standards imposed on women, and mentioned doing this with a great deal of courage and faith in her heart. She also shared the reason for choosing her husband's blazer with her bold look. She stated that her husband's blazer still holds his warmth and thus she decided to carry his memory through it.
