Sharmila Tagore and Sara Ali Khan are one of the most-adored grandmom-granddaughter duo in Tinseltown. Sara, who is the daughter of Saif Ali Khan and his first wife, Amrita Singh simply adores her daadi, whom she lovingly calls badi amma. For the longest time, Sara has envisioned Sharmila as her ultimate inspiration and pillar of strength, in her career and life respectively. Be it at resonating with the veteran actress’ charisma or gaining some off-hand suggestions in the craft of acting, Sara and Sharmila shed pure goals.
In a recent Mother’s Day event hosted by YFLO, Sharmila Tagore revealed a beautiful and fun loving anecdote about her granddaughter, Sara Ali Khan and remarked how her granddaughter showcased a vibrant nature and entertaining personality right from her childhood. Sharmila talked about a particular incident when her son, Saif Ali Khan was hospitalised and Amitabh Bachchan had come to visit him. The veteran actress remembered how her granddaughter was quick to strike a rapport with Big B, and even playfully pulled a prank on him. She said:

“She had that germ in her to do things. She would also often say things which were very outrageous. I remember when Saif was not well and Amitabh Bachchan had come to meet him in the hospital, they started conversing in Hindi. All the ‘Devrani, jethani, mami sa’ and then she invented a word and Amitabh said, ‘I don’t think that is quite right.’ She just made up a bogus word. She had that confidence, didn’t feel overawed by anybody. She was well behaved, but never held back. She was always very entertaining.”

Earlier, while speaking at an event in New Delhi, Sara Ali Khan shed light on the kind of equation her mom, Amrita Singh continues to share with Sharmila Tagore and said:
“My mom doesn’t have parents, but if anything were to happen to me or Ibrahim, I know that she wouldn’t be alone because Badi Amma will be there, and that’s everything.”
Back during the promotions of her film, Ae Watan Mere Watan, Sara Ali Khan opened up about the tips, suggestions and advices that she received from her grandmother, Sharmila Tagore in essaying the role of a freedom fighter from back in the days. The young lady remarked that her dadi asked her not to move about her hands too much during the scene and also asked her to modify her dialogue delivery, so that it doesn’t appear to be arrogant.
