Sharmin Segal Says Sanjay Leela Bhansali Auditioned Her For A Year Before Casting In 'Heeramandi'

Sharmin Segal Says Sanjay Leela Bhansali Auditioned Her For A Year Before Casting In 'Heeramandi'

Sharmin Segal is the leading lady of the hour. She has mesmerised everyone with her splendid performance in the web series, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. Sharmin has also been in the news for being related to Sanjay Leela Bhansali, which evoked the nepotism debate all over again. Many viewers were not happy with her performance compared to the other artists in the series.

Kapil Sharma asked Sharmin Segal if she had to audition for Heeramandi

The leading ladies of Heeramandi, Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Shaikh, and Sharmin Segal recently appeared in The Great Indian Kapil Show. Herein, Kapil asked Sharmin if she had to audition for the web series as Sanjay Leela Bhansali is her uncle. To this Sharmin shocked everyone when she said that she not only had to audition for the role of 'Alamzeb' but for an entire year, SLB tested her.

Sharmin added that she desperately wanted to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the 'filmmaker', and not her 'mamu'. So she gave multiple auditions to be selected for the series. She further revealed that SLB took her sixteen auditions and groomed her for an entire year.

Heeramandi's special screening in Los Angeles was attended only by SLB and his niece

A special screening for Heeramandi's was held in Los Angeles, which repotedly was attended only by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and his niece, Sharmin Segal. Taking to the discussion platform, Reddit, a user dropped glimpses of the event, in which Sharmin and SLB can be seen posing with Lily Singh and others. The other cast were not seen anywhere in the event which raised quite a few eyebrows.

Sharmin, for the day, opted for a Heeramandi-inspired Sabyasachi lehenga. She stunned in a red choli, which she paired with a heavily embroidered lehenga. An addition of a sheer dupatta added stars to her look. A soft touch of makeup and classy earrings finalised her look. Sanjay Leela Bhansali, on the other hand, opted for a black-hued kurta pyjama with a dupatta in the same hue.
